China national bandy team represents the People's Republic of China in international bandy and is governed by the China Bandy Federation. It made its World Championship debut in the 2015 Bandy World Championship, where they ended up in eighth place among nine teams in Group B. It played in the tournaments 2016, 2017 and 2018 as well. 2018 its Division, B, was played at home, in Harbin. China Bandy Federation
China Bandy Federation, ''CBF'', was founded on 13 December 2014. The Chinese Ice Hockey Association joined the Federation of International Bandy (FIB) in 2010 and governed bandy in China until it was replaced by the CBF. The federation was founded at the initiative and cooperation of China Sustainable Society, Nordic Sustainable Organization, Nordic Vikings, Hokay, Harbin Sport University, Chengde City and Beijing International. The Federation is looking to set up teams in Chengde, Harbin, Changchun, Qiqihar, Jiamusi, Fuyuan (close to the Russian border and Khabarovsk, where there's a professional Russian bandy club) as well as Beijing. China Bandy is mainly financed by private resources. The City of Chengde, the Federation of International Bandy and some Russian and Swedish companies has helped starting up the organisation. Bandy is a winter sport and ball sport played by two teams wearing ice skates on a large ice surface (either indoors or outdoors) while using sticks to direct a ball into the opposing team's goal. The international governing body for bandy is the Federation of International Bandy (FIB). The playing surface, called a bandy field or bandy rink, is a sheet of ice which measures 90–110 meters by 45–65 meters – about the size of a football pitch. The field is considerably larger than the ice rinks commonly used for ice hockey, rink bandy, or figure skating. The goal cage used in bandy is 3.5 m (11 ft) wide and 2.1 m (6 ft 11 in) high and is the largest one used by any organized winter team sport. 2020 Bandy World Championship
The 2020 Bandy World Championship was to be an international sports tournament between men's national teams among bandy playing nations. It was to be the fortieth Bandy World Championship. While the Division B tournament was held from 1 to 6 March 2020, the Division A tournament was postponed a number of times and finally cancelled on 1 March 2022. The Division A tournament was supposed to be held from 29 March to 5 April 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Division A tournament was cancelled on 15 September 2020. The FIB later announced that the 2020 Division A tournament in Irkutsk would be finalised in October 2021, and the subsequent World Championship in Syktyvkar would be played in 2022. On 24 August 2021, Sweden announced its withdrawals from the competition, due to the continued threat of COVID-19. Finland and Norway had already made the same decisions earlier. 2019 Bandy World Championship
2019 Bandy World Championship was held in Vänersborg, Sweden, between men's national teams among bandy playing nations. It was the XXXIXth Bandy World Championship. Host selection The tournament was supposed to be held in Irkutsk in Russia. However, the decision was reconsidered and the tournament was held in Vänersborg in Sweden instead. Irkutsk might get the right to host the 2020 tournament, if FIB is given guarantees that the planned indoor arena will be ready for use in time. The 2014 Bandy World Championship was held between 26 January and 2 February 2014, in Irkutsk and Shelekhov, Russia. 17 nations participated in the tournament, playing in two divisions partitioned into two subdivisions. 1957 Bandy World Championship
The 1957 Bandy World Championship was contested among three men's bandy playing nations and was the first ever Bandy World Championship. Norway declined to take part due to the Soviet invasion of Hungary in November 1956. The championship was played in Finland from 28 February to 3 March 1957, as part of the fifty year anniversary celebrations for the Ball Association of Finland, which at the time was the governing body for bandy in Finland. The tournament was officially opened by President of the republic Urho Kekkonen. All games, which were only three, were played at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium. The Soviet Union became champions. 2016 Bandy World Championship
Bandy World Championship 2016, the XXXVI Bandy World Championship, was held with Ulyanovsk Oblast, Russia, as host region. Most of the games was played at the Volga-Sport-Arena in Ulyanovsk. Because of its higher spectator capacity, the group stage matches between Russia and Sweden and between Russia and Kazakhstan were played at Trud Stadium, which also hosted one semi-final and the final. Some games were played in nearby Dimitrovgrad at Stadium Stroitel. The Division A tournament was played from 1 February until 7 February 2016, while the Division B tournament took place afterwards, on 10–14 February.
