Chester Cooper
Isaac Chester Cooper (born 29 July 1970) is a Bahamian Progressive Liberal Party politician serving as Deputy Prime Minister of the Bahamas to Philip Davis and Minister of Tourism and Aviation since September 2021. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for The Exumas and Ragged Island since 2017. Early life Cooper was born and raised in Forbes Hill, Little Exuma, the youngest of 12 children to the Reverends Eulon and Louise Cooper. His father passed away when he was 5. 2021 Bahamian General Election
General elections were held in the Bahamas on 16 September 2021 to elect all 38 members of the House of Assembly. Around two hours after the polls closed, and results started to trickle in, Prime Minister Hubert Minnis conceded defeat, after results showed his party Free National Movement losing several seats they previously held. Since 1997, every election has resulted in a change of government. On 17 September Philip Davis of the Progressive Liberal Party was sworn in as prime minister. Background The Bahamas has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Biometric cards are expected to be used. In January 2021, it was reported that the PLP was expecting an early election. Philip Edward "Brave" Davis (born 7 June 1951) is a Bahamian politician serving as the Prime Minister of the Bahamas since 2021. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Cat Island, Rum Cay & San Salvador since May 2002. Davis was Deputy Prime Minister to Perry Christie and Minister of Public Works and Urban Development from 2012 to 2017.
