Cheras–Kajang Expressway
The Cheras–Kajang Expressway is an controlled-access highway in the Klang Valley region of Peninsular Malaysia. It runs between the suburb of Cheras at the Kuala Lumpur–Selangor border and the township of Kajang in Selangor. History The expressway is part of a major expansion of Jalan Cheras, which consisted of a two-lane intercity road between Kajang and Cheras. Construction of the expressway commenced in late 1998 and, at a cost of RM275 million, was completed and began tolling on 15 January 1999. Having assumed a new name, the "Cheras–Kajang Expressway", and incorporated the mid-length of the original road into the expressway, the expressway consequently bisected ''Jalan Cheras'' into two at both ends of the original road: one at Kajang, and the other at Cheras, while remnants of the road's undeveloped routes between remain partially in use. Cheras Highway
Cheras Highway, Federal Route 1 also known as Cheras Road and Loke Yew Road is a major highway in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. History This highway was upgraded in 1988 by Metramac Corporation Sdn.Bhd. The Cheras Road toll plaza began operation from 1 September 1990. After being suspended a year later before reopening on 15 September 1991, toll charges reduced by 50 percent from the usual RM1. After many complaints and traffic jams, the toll plaza was abolished on 14 September 2003 and replaced by Taman Midah MRT station on 17 July 2017. Today, the highway is maintained by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL). Due to the congestion that clogged the Cheras Highway, two projects were led by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL). SmartTAG (acronym in Malay for Sistem Membayar Automatik Rangkaian Tol or "Toll Network Automatic Payment Systems") is an on-board unit (OBU) vehicle-based device used as an electronic toll collection (ETC) system over long distances (maximum 15 metres) to complement Touch 'n Go, a card-based system. It was first introduced in Malaysia in 1999 and is also used as an Entrance Access Security. Bandar Sungai Long is a main township in Cheras, Selangor, Malaysia. Bandar Sungai Long was designed for a population of 10,000 residents. The majority population in this township are Chinese with a minority of Indians and Malays living in this township. The Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) operates a campus in Sungai Long. Bandar Mahkota Cheras is a township in Cheras, Selangor, Malaysia. It was developed by Narajaya Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Lion Group. Touch 'n Go
The Touch 'n Go smart card is used by Malaysian toll expressway and highway operators as the sole electronic payment system (EPS). The credit card-sized smart card is made of plastic with Philips' MIFARE Classic microchip technology embedded in it. It is a one company monopoly system that you must use this card as long as you need to pass through the highway, take public transportation, etc in Malaysia. The card has an expiry date and inactive period. Check carefully as the Inactive card of not using for more than 12 months, cannot be reactivated.
