Charminar Assembly constituency is a constituency of Telangana Legislative Assembly, India. It is one of 15 constituencies in capital city of Hyderabad. It is part of Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency. Syed Pasha Quadri won the assembly election from Charminar in 2014. Telangana Legislative Assembly
The Telangana Legislative Assembly or Telangana Śāsana Sabha is the lower house of the Telangana Legislature. The Legislative Assembly of Telangana currently consists of 119 elected members and 1 nominated member from the Anglo-Indian community. Its chief engineer was Nawab Sarwar Jung. The members of the ''Vidhana Sabha'' are directly elected by people through adult franchise. Each constituency elects one member of the assembly. Members are popularly known as M.L.A's. The assembly is elected using the simple plurality or "first past the post" electoral system. The elections are conducted by the Election Commission of India. Chaderghat
Chaderghat is considered one of the busiest areas of Hyderabad city and is located on the banks of Musi River. Chaderghat Bridge was built during the time of the Nizams and connects major suburbs to the main city. The original name of Chadherghat was "Oliphant Nagar". History The Urdu word ''Chadar'' is used to refer to a white sheet. The locality was so-called after an anicut across the river which formed a ‘Chadar’ or a sheet of water. The famous Chaderghat bridge, or Oliphant Bridge as it was known then, was built in 1831 and named after James Oliphant. Chaderghat was first declared a Municipality in 1886. In 1933, it was merged with Hyderabad Municipality to form Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. Chaderghat is surrounded by Koti, Gowliguda, Kachiguda, Darulshifa and Malakpet Localities. 2014 Telangana Legislative Assembly Election
The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election, 2014 took place on 30 April and 7 May 2014 to elect members to the legislatures of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. It was held concurrently with the Indian general election. The results were declared on 16 May 2014. The Telugu Desam Party led by N. Chandrababu Naidu won a majority of the 175 seats in the rump Andhra Pradesh, while Telangana Rashtra Samithi led by K. Chandrashekar Rao won in the new state of Telangana. Previous Assembly In the 2009 Andhra Pradesh Assembly election, Congress had taken the lead, winning 156 of the 294 seats in the Assembly. As the leader of the Congress Legislature Party, Y. S. 2018 Telangana Legislative Assembly Election
The Telangana Legislative Assembly election was held in Telangana on 7 December 2018 to constitute the second Legislative Assembly since the formation of the state in 2014. The incumbent Telangana Rashtra Samithi, the Indian National Congress, BJP, Telangana Jana Samithi, and Telugu Desam Party were the main contestants in the election. Four opposition parties in the state, INC, TJS, TDP and CPI announced the formation of a 'Maha Kootami' (Grand Alliance), to defeat the ruling TRS in the elections. Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi
Salahuddin Owaisi (14 February 1931 – 29 September 2008) was an Indian politician belonging to the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen party and active in the Telangana region. He served as the Member of Parliament from Hyderabad for six consecutive terms until his retirement in 2004.
