Charles Eric Rhodes
Charles Eric Rhodes AM (3 April 1928 – 16 June 1955) was a British officer in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who was posthumously awarded the Albert Medal for his actions during the rescue of submariners from HMS ''Sidon'' on 16 June 1955. Second World War

Albert Medal (lifesaving)
The Albert Medal for Lifesaving was a British medal awarded to recognize the saving of life. It has since been replaced by the George Cross. The Albert Medal was first instituted by a royal warrant on 7 March 1866. It was named in memory of Prince Albert and originally was awarded to recognize saving life at sea. The original medal had a blue ribbon " (16 mm) wide with two white stripes. A further royal warrant in 1867 created two classes of Albert Medal, the first in gold and bronze and the second in bronze, both enamelled in blue, and the ribbon of the first class changed to 1 " (35 mm) wide with four white stripes. The medal was made of gold (although early examples are gold and bronze), which was enameled blue. There were miniatures of all four types (two classes each for sea and land, with the gold awards believed to be gilt. HMS Sidon (P259)
HMS ''Sidon'' was a submarine of the Royal Navy, launched in September 1944, one of the third group of S class built by Cammell Laird & Co Limited, Birkenhead, named after the naval bombardment of Sidon in 1840. An explosion caused by a faulty torpedo sank her in Portland Harbour with the loss of 13 lives. Accident In 1953 she took part in the Fleet Review to celebrate the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. On the morning of 16 June 1955, ''Sidon'' was moored alongside the depot ship in Portland Harbour. Two Mark 12 high test peroxide-powered torpedoes, code-named "Fancy", had been loaded aboard for testing. Fifty-six officers and crewmen were aboard. At 08:25, an explosion in one of the "Fancy" torpedoes (but not the warhead) burst the number-three torpedo tube into which it had been loaded and ruptured the two forward-most watertight bulkheads.
