Chak (village)
Chak, a Punjabi word, is the land revenue settlement/assessment circle marking a contiguous block of land. The word Chak comes from Chakar referring to a wheel in Urdu, specifically a wheel associated with a water well. Historically there was one water well allotted per village and every village number allotted as per water-well wheel. Now the individual chak circles have come to be associated with the name of the village founded within the revenue circle. Chak circles are based on the British Raj era revenue collection system. To enhance the government revenue during the British Raj, new canals were built to bring the barani (rainfed) areas under cultivation by introducing the irrigation to the bangar (upland) areas of Punjab region. Chak Mai Dass also spelled as Chak Maidas is a village in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district of Punjab State, India. It is located away from postal head office Kultham, from Banga, from district headquarter Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and from state capital Chandigarh. Chak Dynasty
The Chak dynasty was a dynasty that ruled the region of Kashmir after the Shah Mir dynasty. The origins of the Chaks are unclear, they are said to be native Kashmiris of Dardic origin. The Chak dynasty ruled from 1561 to 1586. Ghazi Chak is referred as the first Chak ruler. The dynasty rose to power after the death of the Turco-Mongol military general, Mirza Muhammad Haidar Dughlat. CHAK-TV
CHAK-TV was a small CBC Television/CBC North owned-and-operated station for the Northwest Territories community of Inuvik. The station was registered on May 16, 1968 to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to operate on channel 6, with an effective radiated power of 3,000 watts video and 300 watts audio. The antenna height (EHAAT) would be 394 feet. This station was part of the CBC's Frontier Coverage Package for northern communications. CHAK-TV was also heard at 87.7 MHz on FM radios, though at a slightly lower volume than other FM stations - due to technical reasons. History The station began broadcasting on August 22, 1969, and was associated with CHAK radio. CHAK (AM)
CHAK is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting at 860 AM in Inuvik, Northwest Territories. The station broadcasts the programming of the CBC Radio One network known as CBC North. History CHAK was launched in 1947 as a local community station in neighbouring Aklavik on 1230 AM. A new station was built by the CBC in the new town of Inuvik to replace the old station in Aklavik. The new CHAK went on the air on November 26, 1960 on 860. The station was now part of the CBC Northern Radio Service. CHAK received CBC news and topical programs by picking up CBX Edmonton and relaying the broadcast. Tapes recorded in Montreal were also flown in on regular airline flights. Eventually the station was linked into the primary CBC network feed. The history of CHAK originated prior to 1960 and called itself "CHAK, the friendly voice of the Arctic". Chak (Sindhi: چڪ) is a town situated on the west bank of the Indus River in Shikarpur District, Sindh, Pakistan.
