Central Australia
Central Australia, also sometimes referred to as the Red Centre, is an inexactly defined region associated with the geographic centre of Australia. In its narrowest sense it describes a region that is limited to the town of Alice Springs and its immediate surrounds including the MacDonnell Ranges. In its broadest use it can include almost any region in inland Australia that has remained relatively undeveloped, and in this sense is synonymous with the term Outback. Centralia is another term associated with the area, most commonly used by locals. As described by Charles Sturt in one of the earlier uses of the term "A veil hung over Central Australia that could neither be pierced or raised. Centralia, Pennsylvania
Centralia is a borough and near- ghost town in Columbia County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is part of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Its population has declined from 1,000 in 1980 to five residents in 2020 because a coal mine fire has been burning beneath the borough since 1962. Centralia, part of the Bloomsburg–Berwick metropolitan area, is the least-populated municipality in Pennsylvania. It is completely surrounded by Conyngham Township. All real estate in the borough was claimed under eminent domain in 1992 and condemned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Centralia's ZIP code was discontinued by the Postal Service in 2002. The album was recorded and produced by guitarist Torsten Kinsella, then mastered by Tim Young at Metropolis Mastering in London. Themes The album artwork is based on Aztec art designed by bassist Niels Kinsella. ''Centralia'' is the debut studio album by the American band Car Bomb. This was the band's first full-length release, following a 2004 demo. It is also the band's only release through Relapse Records, which dropped the band four years later in 2011. The album's title was named after the doomed town of Centralia, Pennsylvania, which was abandoned during an underground mine fire. The track's lyrical content and titles cover various topics - Cielo Drive (also known as 'Bloodbath Orgy') was named after the road on which one of the infamous Manson Family spree-killings were committed (10050 Cielo Drive), H5N1 is the medical abbreviation for the then-recent outbreak strain of Bird Flu, while 'M^6' covers neglect of a mother. Centralia College Of Agricultural Technology
Centralia College of Agricultural Technology was an agricultural college in Huron Park, Ontario near the town of Exeter. It opened in 1967 and operated under the direction of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food. The college used local farms, rather than a demonstration farm for field laboratories, in order to gain the cooperation of local farmers. The college was closed due to provincial government cutbacks in the 1993 budget. It closed in the spring of 1994. The college originally provided diplomas in Agricultural Business Management, Animal Health Technology, Food Service Management, and Home Economics. At the time of its closing, Centralia had the only veterinary technician course which was accredited by the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association. Wisconsin Rapids is a city in and the county seat of Wood County, Wisconsin. The population was 18,877 at the 2020 census. The city also forms one of the core areas of the United States Census Bureau's Marshfield-Wisconsin Rapids Micropolitan Statistical Area, which includes all of Wood County and had a 2020 population of 74,207. The Centralia Canal, also known as Centralia Power Canal, is a canal in Thurston and Pierce counties, Washington, United States. It is the only feature named a canal in Western Washington. The canal parallels the Nisqually River for in and around the city of Yelm. It was built in 1929 to supply water for the 12-megawatt Yelm hydroelectric project belonging to the city of Centralia's City Light Department. Part of the canal runs through the Nisqually River Conservation Area, purchased in 2020 by the Nisqually Land Trust. The Centralia Union Depot is an Amtrak train station in Centralia, Washington, United States. It is served by the ''Cascades'' and ''Coast Starlight'' trains. The track and platforms are owned by BNSF Railway. Local transit connections are provided by Twin Transit. History The station was constructed by the Northern Pacific Railway (NP) and opened in 1912. It is the third station to have been constructed in Centralia since rail service began in 1880. The large brick structure was built to accommodate a 400% population boom in the area from 1900 to 1914. Only 2 years after its opening, Centralia Union Depot was being served by 44 passenger trains and 17 freight trains daily. The station faced 14 hotels along Tower Avenue, as well as 5 theaters and 8 banks in the downtown core. Centralia Coal Mine was an open-pit coal mine, owned by the Canadian-based TransAlta Corporation. The mine shut down in 2006.
