The Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility (CMFR) is a private, non-stock, non-profit foundation in the Philippines that has focused its endeavor on press freedom protection along with the establishment of a framework of responsibility for its practice. Its programs represent efforts to protect the press as well as to promote professional and ethical values in journalistic practice. History The formation of the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility (CMFR) addresses one of the critical concerns confronting the Philippines after People Power toppled the Marcos dictatorship in February 1986. María Cristina Mapa Monzón-Palma (born María Cristina Mapa Monzón on March 29, 1951 in Manila), popularly known as Tina Monzón-Palma (), is a Filipina broadcast journalist and anchorwoman. She is best known as a late night news presenter in various Philippine television news programs in different television networks. She became GMA Network's first female news presenter and pioneered its Public Affairs department during her term as GMA News executive. She later transferred to ABC-5 (now TV5) to head its operations. Fulgencio Santos "Jun" Factoran Jr. (November 3, 1943– April 5, 2020) was a Filipino lawyer, politician, human rights activist, pro-democracy activist, and advocate for freedom of the press in the Philippines. Factoran was a key opponent of the Ferdinand Marcos dictatorship. After the restoration of democracy, he served in the Cabinet of President Corazon Aquino as Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources (Philippines) (DENR) from 1987 to 1992. Joaquin Bernas
Joaquin G. Bernas SJ (July 7, 1932 – March 6, 2021) was a Jesuit priest, lawyer, college professor and writer who was Dean Emeritus of the Ateneo de Manila Law School in Makati, Philippines. He was a member of the 1986 Constitutional Commission which drafted the 1987 Philippine Constitution. Bernas specialized in the Philippine Constitution and was an author of law books and articles. Education Bernas earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English, Latin, and Greek Classics and Master of Arts degree in Philosophy from Berchmans College in 1956 and 1957 respectively. In 1962, he received his Bachelor of Laws degree from Ateneo de Manila Law School and placed 9th in the bar examinations given that year.
