Cassell Webb
Cassell Webb is a British–American musician and producer, whose musical career has incorporated psychedelia, country music, folk rock, and progressive rock. Biography Born in Llano, Texas, United States, in the late 1940s, Webb began playing guitar at 14 and later became involved with the psychedelic scene in San Antonio. She became a member of the Children, a psychedelic group that was part of Lelan Rogers' stable of artists, appearing on their 1968 ''Rebirth'' album and several singles. She later joined Saddlesore, a Texas combo whose core members, Mayo Thompson and Rick Barthelme, were former members of Red Krayola, another Rogers-managed act. Saddlesore recorded one single ("Old Tom Clark") on the Texas Revolution label before disbanding in the early 1970s. Craig Leon (born 7 January 1952) is an American-born record producer, composer and arranger currently living in England.International Who’s Who in Classical Music 2005'', Routledge, 2005. Leon was instrumental in launching the careers of many recording artists including The Ramones, Suicide, Talking Heads and Blondie. The Cesarians
The Cesarians are an English, London-based group, consisting of singer Charlie Finke, pianist Justine Armatage, drummer Jan Noble and an all-woman wind section. Their eponymous debut album, '' Cesarians 1'', was recorded at Abbey Road studios and produced by Craig Leon. The Fall (band)
The Fall were an English post-punk group, formed in 1976 in Prestwich, Greater Manchester. They underwent many line-up changes, with vocalist and founder Mark E. Smith as the only constant member. The Fall's long-term musicians included drummers Paul Hanley, Simon Wolstencroft and Karl Burns; guitarists Marc Riley, Craig Scanlon and Brix Smith; and bassist Steve Hanley, whose melodic, circular bass lines are widely credited with shaping the band's sound from early 1980s albums such as ''Hex Enduction Hour'' to the late 1990s. Steve Hogarth (born Ronald Stephen Hoggarth, 14 May 1956 in Kendal, Westmorland) also known as "h", is an English singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Since 1989 he has been the lead singer of the British rock band Marillion, for which he also performs additional keyboards and guitar. Philip David Ochs (; December 19, 1940 – April 9, 1976) was an American songwriter and protest singer (or, as he preferred, a topical singer). Ochs was known for his sharp wit, sardonic humor, political activism, often alliterative lyrics, and distinctive voice. He wrote hundreds of songs in the 1960s and 1970s and released eight albums. Ochs performed at many political events during the 1960s counterculture era, including anti-Vietnam War and civil rights rallies, student events, and organized labor events over the course of his career, in addition to many concert appearances at such venues as New York City's Town Hall and Carnegie Hall. "If I Needed You" is a song written by Townes Van Zandt and performed on his 1972 album ''The Late Great Townes Van Zandt''. It was covered 9 years later by American country music artists Emmylou Harris and Don Williams as a duet, and was released in September 1981 as the first single from Harris' album '' Cimarron''. The song reached #3 on the ''Billboard'' Hot Country Singles chart and #1 on the ''RPM'' Country Tracks chart in Canada. According to Townes's business partner and producer Kevin Eggers, the song was written about his wife Anne Mittendorf Eggers. The song is very similar musically to David Allan Coe's later song " Would You Lay with Me (In a Field of Stone)." Van Zandt's former manager John Lomax III recounts that when Coe heard Van Zandt play the song, he asked Van Zandt if he could "do something with it."
