Carson Abel Roberts
Carson Abel Roberts (September 4, 1905 – December 19, 1983) was a lieutenant general in the United States Marine Corps. Biography Roberts was born on September 4, 1905, in Lancaster, Wisconsin. He graduated from high school in Madison, Wisconsin, and obtained a B.D. in philosophy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Roberts married Evelyn Gresham, who died in 1977. He died on December 19, 1983, in Pinehurst, North Carolina, and is buried with Evelyn at Arlington National Cemetery. Career Roberts joined the Marines in 1929. In 1934, he was designated an aviator. During World War II, he served with Marine Aircraft Group 11 and the 4th Marine Aircraft Wing. Following the war, he was named assistant chief of staff of the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing. Lancaster, Wisconsin
Lancaster is a city in and the county seat of Grant County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 3,907 at the 2020 census. History Lancaster originated as a planned community to serve as the county seat for Grant County. Anticipating the county's establishment in 1836, Major Glendower M. Price, a Cassville merchant and land speculator, purchased the site of Lancaster for its central location in the county. Major Price platted the town on a compass-aligned grid in 1837, reserving a large central square for the new county government. He was persuaded to name the city Lancaster by a relative who migrated from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Maj. Price and Daniel Banfill contracted to construct the first county courthouse, which stood on the square from 1838-1851. A second courthouse was constructed in 1852-1853 and enlarged in 1865. Marine Corps Air Station Eagle Mountain Lake (MCAS Eagle Mountain Lake) was a United States Marine Corps air station that was located northwest of Fort Worth, Texas during World War II. Commissioned on December 1, 1942, the air station was originally supposed to be the home of the Marine Corps glider program. When the program was cancelled in 1943 the station became home to the newly created Marine Night Fighting Squadrons. After the war the air station went into caretaker status in December 1946 and became an Outlying Landing Field of Naval Air Station Dallas.
