Laila Ligita Freivalds (born 22 June 1942) is a Swedish Social Democratic politician who served as Minister for Justice from 1988 to 1991 and again from 1994 to 2000, as Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2003 to 2006 and as Deputy Prime Minister of Sweden briefly in 2004. Freivalds was born in Riga, Latvia, during World War II, and escaped to Sweden with her family. She graduated with a Candidate of Law (''juris kandidat'') from Uppsala University in 1970, after which she served in the Swedish Court System until 1976. Bengt Göransson (1932–2021) was a Swedish educator and social democrat politician who held different cabinet posts, including minister of culture and minister of education. He also served in the Parliament for two terms between 1985 and 1991. Biography Göransson was born in Södermalm in 1932. In his youth he was a member of the Swedish Social Democratic Youth League. Sten Sture Andersson (20 April 1923 – 16 September 2006) was a Swedish social democratic politician, who served as Minister for Foreign Affairs 1985–1991 and as President of the Nordic Council in 1994. He worked closely with Olof Palme, and became known internationally for his support of Palestinian independence. In November 2010 he was posthumously awarded the Star of Jerusalem, the highest Palestinian order, by Mahmoud Abbas. He was awarded the Illis quorum in 1995. Odd Erik Lennart Engström (20 September 1941 – 18 May 1998) was a politician of the Swedish Social Democratic Party. He was born in Silbodal, Årjäng, Värmland County, Sweden and was educated at University of Uppsala. Engström served as one of two State Secretaries (the other was Ulf Larsson) to Prime Minister Olof Palme 1982–1983. From 1983 he served as Finance Secretary of Stockholm Municipality.
