Carites
In the Bible, the Cherethites ( he, כְּרֵתִי ''Kərēṯī'') and Pelethites ( he, פְּלֵתִי ''Pəlēṯī''), the former also spelled Kerethites, are two ethnic groups in the Levant. Carite State Forest
Carite State Forest (Spanish: ''Bosque Estatal de Carite'') is a state forest and nature reserve located in the Sierra de Cayey mountain range in southeastern Puerto Rico. The forest extends over approximately 6,500 acres and is located in the municipalities of Caguas, Cayey, Guayama, Patillas and San Lorenzo. The forest is located along the ''Ruta Panorámica'' (officially the ''Luis Muñoz Marín Scenic Route''), which offers access to the forest. History Carite State Forest is one of 20 forestry units in the territory of Puerto Rico. This forest area was established by a proclamation in 1935 and was formerly listed as a state forest on July 1, 1975, through the Law of Puerto Rican Forests (Law Num. 133). ARV Carite (S-11)
USS ''Tilefish'' (SS-307), a ''Balao''-class submarine, was the only ship of the United States Navy to be named for the tilefish, a large, yellow-spotted deepwater food fish. Her keel was laid down on March 10, 1943 at Vallejo, California, by the Mare Island Navy Yard. She was launched on October 25, 1943 sponsored by Mrs. Wilson D. Leggett, and commissioned on December 28, 1943. First and second war patrols During February and March 1944, ''Tilefish'' underwent trials and shakedown off the California coast before getting underway for Hawaii. On April 3, the submarine departed Pearl Harbor for her first war patrol, setting course for the Japanese home islands. While patrolling in the "Hit Parade" area east of Honshū, ''Tilefish'' sighted many enemy aircraft but found few targets for her torpedoes.
