Carefree is a town in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. As of the 2020 United States census, the population of the town was 3,690. History Characterized as an upscale residential area, Carefree was conceived in the mid-1950s by business partners K.T. Palmer and Tom Darlington as a master-planned community. Land sales commenced in 1955 and homebuilding started in 1958. Carefree was incorporated in 1984 to avoid annexation by neighboring Scottsdale. Geography and climate Carefree is in northeastern Maricopa County, bordered by the city of Scottsdale to the south and east and by the town of Cave Creek to the west. Carefree and Cave Creek are sometimes thought of as a single community. The two towns share the local landmark Black Mountain, which rises more than above them, to an elevation of . In the US, the Carefree brand was formerly marketed by McNeil-PPC and currently being marketed by Edgewell Personal Care (along with other US feminine hygiene brands from Johnson & Johnson). Samantha Stollenwerck (born September 8, 1978) is an American singer-songwriter. She has released four full-length albums and a four-track EP. Biography Stollenwerck's debut album, ''Square One'', was self-produced and released in 2005 on San Francisco's in the Pocket Records. Stollenwerck's second album ''Carefree'' was produced by Jeff Trott, and released on November 10, 2009, on indie label Dusty Peach Records. She collaborated with songwriter Danielle Brisebois. Her third album was ''Lights Down & Unreleased''. Her fourth album, ''Traveler's Songbook'', was recorded after traveling through more than 30 countries, and the songs and music videos incorporated influences from Germany, Eritrea, Russia, the Arctic and Antarctic Regions, Uganda, Rwanda and Yemen.
