Carbery Rangers GAA
Carbery Rangers is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the village of Rosscarbery, County Cork, Ireland. The club is solely concerned with the game of Gaelic football. History Located in Rosscarbery in West Cork, Carbery Rangers was founded on 10 November 1887. The club played its first match just under a month later in a field which was part of the lands of Downeen Castle. Carbery Rangers first came to countywide notice when they contested and lost back-to-back Cork SFC finals in 1905 and 1906. Carbery Rangers spent much of the following century operating in the junior grade, winning ten West Cork JAFC titles between 1937 and 2003. The last of these victories was subsequently converted into noth Cork JAFC and Munster Club JFC titles, before losing the All-Ireland final to Wolfe Tones. 2004–05 All-Ireland Intermediate Club Football Championship
The 2004–05 All-Ireland Intermediate Club Football Championship was the second staging of the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Football Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association for the 2003–04 season. The championship ran from 24 October 2004 to 28 March 2005. The All-Ireland final was played on 28 March 2005 at O'Moore Park in Portlaoise, between Carbery Rangers and Pomeroy Plunketts. Tony Murphy (Gaelic Footballer)
Anthony Murphy (4 July 1950 – 13 October 2004) was an Irish Gaelic football player, selector and administrator. He played for club side Carbery Rangers, divisional side Carbery and at inter-county level with the Cork senior football team. Career Murphy first came to prominence as a member of the Carbery Rangers minor team that won three successive championships. His performances at club level resulted in his inclusion on the Cork minor team that secured the All-Ireland title in 1968. Murphy progressed onto the Cork under-21 team and enjoyed three undefeated years at provincial level before winning consecutive All-Ireland Under-21 Championships in 1970-71. By this stage he had also been drafted onto the Cork senior team and made a number of appearances between 1971 and 1975. 2020 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The 2020 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 133rd edition of the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament since its establishment in 1887. The public health measures introduced to combat the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the competition being delayed. On 17 March, the GAA confirmed that the opening fixture – due to have taken place at Gaelic Park in The Bronx on 3 May – had been postponed. In June, the GAA announced that the 2020 championship would be straight knock-out, the first straight-knockout since 2000. Thirty teams took part – thirty of the thirty-two counties of Ireland. New York were unable to participate due to travel restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Munster Senior Football Championship
The Munster Senior Football Championship, known simply as the Munster Championship and shortened to Munster SFC, is an annual inter-county Gaelic football competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county Gaelic football competition in the province of Munster, and has been contested every year, bar one, since the 1888 championship. The final, currently held on the fourth Saturday in June, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during May and June, and the results determine which team receives the Munster Cup. Robbie Kiely (born 16 December 1990) is an Irish Gaelic football player who plays plays his club football for Barryroe GAA in Cork and previously at inter-county level for Tipperary. Career Kiely made his championship debut for Tipperary in 2011 against Louth On 31 July 2016, he started in the half back line as Tipperary defeated Galway in the 2016 All-Ireland Quarter-finals at Croke Park to reach their first All-Ireland semi-final since 1935. ''The Southern Star'' is a weekly regional newspaper based in Skibbereen, County Cork in Ireland and was established in 1889 as the ''Cork County Southern Star'', by brothers Florence and John O'Sullivan. One of its rival newspapers in the 19th century was ''The Skibbereen Eagle'', founded in 1857. It had become "famous by declaring it was 'keeping an eye on the Czar of Russia' over his expansionist designs on China". On the centenary of the event, Brendan McWilliams gave a slightly different account in ''The Irish Times'', saying that on 5 September 1898 ''The Skibbereen Eagles editorial stated "We will still keep our eye on the Emperor of Russia and on all such despotic enemies, whether at home or abroad, of human progression and man's natural rights.". The 2010 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 124th edition of the GAA's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament, played between 31 of the 32 counties of Ireland plus London and New York. The draw for the championship took place on 22 October 2009. The championship began on 2 May 2010 and concluded with the All-Ireland final at Croke Park on 19 September 2010. Cork defeated Down by 0-16 to 0-15 to win their seventh All-Ireland senior title, and their first since 1990. The All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC) ( ga, Craobh Shinsir Peile na hÉireann) is the premier competition in Gaelic football. An annual tournament organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), it is contested by the county teams in All-Ireland. The first tournament was held in 1887; it has been held every year since 1889. The Cork Junior A Football Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Co-Op Superstores Cork Junior A Football Championship and abbreviated to the Cork JAFC) is an annual Gaelic football competition organised by the Cork County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking junior clubs in the county of Cork in Ireland. It is the fifth tier overall in the entire Cork football championship system.
