Campolindo High School
Campolindo High School is a public high school located in Moraga, California, United States, and is in the Acalanes Union High School District. In 2019, Campolindo was ranked 30th in California (and 239th nationally) by '' U.S. News & World Report''. Athletics The Campolindo Cougars have programs in men's football, women's volleyball, men's/women's basketball, men's baseball, men's/women's water polo, men's/women's cross country, men's/women's track and field, men's/women's tennis men's/women's swimming and diving, men's/women's soccer and men's volleyball. The women's cross-country team has won seven CIF state championships (2001, 2010, 2013, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2022). The football team has won two CIF state championships (2014, 2016). Moraga, California
Moraga is a town in Contra Costa County, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. The town is named in honor of Joaquín Moraga, member of the famed Californio family. As of 2020, Moraga had a total population of 16,870 people. Moraga is the home of Saint Mary's College of California. History The land now called Moraga was first inhabited by the Saklan Native Americans who belonged to the Bay Miwok language group. Joaquin Moraga was the grandson of José Joaquín Moraga, builder of the Presidio of San Francisco and founder of the pueblo that grew into the city of San Jose. Joaquin's father Gabriel Moraga was also a soldier, and an early explorer who named many of the state's rivers, including the Sacramento and San Joaquin. Major League Baseball (MLB) is a professional baseball organization and the oldest major professional sports league in the world. MLB is composed of 30 total teams, divided equally between the National League (NL) and the American League (AL), with 29 in the United States and 1 in Canada. Carey Schueler
Carey A. Schueler (born April 15, 1974) is the daughter of former Chicago White Sox General Manager Ron Schueler. She was the first woman ever drafted by a Major League Baseball team when the White Sox picked the 18-year-old left-handed pitcher in the 43rd round (1208th pick overall) of the 1993 MLB draft. Up until that time she had been a basketball star at Campolindo High School in Moraga, California. She attended and played basketball for DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois before transferring to St. Mary's College of California, back in Moraga, where she continued to play until an injury in 1996. Peter Rocca
Peter Drake Rocca (born July 27, 1957) is an American former competition swimmer, Olympic medalist, and former world record-holder. Rocca broke onto the international swimming scene winning two gold medals in the men's backstroke events (100-meter backstroke, 4×100-meter medley relay) at the 1975 Pan American Games in Mexico City. Peter participated at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, where he claimed two silver medals in the men's backstroke events (100 and 200-meter), and a gold medal swimming in the preliminaries of the men's 4 x 100 Medley relay. Rocca continued to swim after the Montreal Olympics—two years later he won the silver medal in the men's 100-meter backstroke event at the 1978 World Aquatics Championships in Berlin, Germany. The Conrad Veidt Society
Hans Walter Conrad Veidt (; 22 January 1893 – 3 April 1943) was a German film actor who attracted early attention for his roles in the films '' Different from the Others'' (1919), '' The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari'' (1920), and ''The Man Who Laughs'' (1928). After a successful career in German silent films, where he was one of the best-paid stars of UFA, he and his new Jewish wife Ilona Prager left Germany in 1933 after the Nazis came to power. The couple settled in Britain, where he took British citizenship in 1939. Aaron Poreda
Aaron Anderman Poreda (born October 1, 1986) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. A first-round pick of the Chicago White Sox in the 2007 draft who threw a 97 mile-per-hour fastball, Poreda was named by ''Baseball America'' in the offseason as the White Sox minor leaguer who was closest to the major leagues. He also began 2008 ranked by ''Baseball America'' as the White Sox organization's #1 prospect, and as having the best fastball. For the season, he ranked third in the organization in both ERA and strikeouts. Poreda debuted in the major leagues at the age of 22 with the White Sox in June 2009. Chip Hale
Walter William "Chip" Hale (born December 2, 1964) is an American professional baseball infielder, coach, and manager. Hale played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1989 through 1997, and managed in MLB from 2015 through 2016. He was named head coach of the Arizona Wildcats of the University of Arizona in July 2021. Hale played in MLB for the Minnesota Twins and Los Angeles Dodgers, mostly as a second baseman and third baseman. He became a coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2007, and has since served as a coach for the New York Mets, Oakland Athletics, Washington Nationals, and Detroit Tigers.
