''Cafe Mascot'' is a 1936 British comedy film directed by Lawrence Huntington and starring Geraldine Fitzgerald. It was produced by Gabriel Pascal, and made at Wembley Studios. A young man discovers £1,000 in a taxi. The kindly man gives it to an impoverished Irish girl (Geraldine Fitzgerald) by investing it in her cafe, The Cafe Mascot. Lawrence Huntington (1900–1968) was a British film director, screenwriter and producer. Huntington was born in London on 9 March 1900, he directed more than thirty films following his debut feature ''After Many Years'' (1930). He later worked in television before his death in 1968. Gabriel Pascal
Gabriel Pascal (born Gábor Lehel; 4 June 1894 – 6 July 1954) was a Hungarian film producer and director whose best-known films were made in the United Kingdom. Pascal was the first film producer to successfully bring the plays of George Bernard Shaw to the screen. His most successful production was '' Pygmalion'' (1938), for which Pascal received an Academy Award nomination as its producer. Later adaptations of Shaw plays included ''Major Barbara'' (1941), '' Caesar and Cleopatra'' (1945) and '' Androcles and the Lion'' (1952).
