CFU758 is a low-power broadcaster, using the on-air brand ''90.7 RAV FM''. It is the only licensed high school radio station in Thornhill, Ontario and is owned and operated by Hodan Nalayeh Secondary School. RAV FM is part of the school's radio broadcasting course, and is one of a small number of Canadian radio stations licensed to a high school. History RAV FM first signed on in 1999 on 106.3 MHz, utilizing a combination of students and faculty as station operators and program directors. Rob Basile was the station's original founder, and a teacher at Hodan Nalayeh Secondary School. Under Basile's guidance, the station voluntarily changed to 90.7 MHz to avoid interference with CKAV-FM in 2002. After launching CIRR-FM at the beginning of 2007, he remained that station's program director, the duties of program director were given to Chris "Punch" Andrews, who also continued his on-air duties at CKFM-FM. The oldest extant high school AM radio station is AM 1450 KBPS in Portland, Oregon. Portland radio station KBPS, first licensed in 1923, is the second oldest radio station overall in the city of Portland. The student body of Benson Polytechnic High School purchased the transmitter and other equipment from Stubbs Electric in Portland for $1,800. Money for the purchase of the station came from student body funds. On March 23, 1923, the student body of Benson was licensed by the federal government to operate a radio station using 200 watts of power at 834 kilocycles. The first call letters of the station were KFIF. The station made its formal debut on the air and was officially dedicated in early May of 1923, between the hours of 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., on the opening night of the 5th annual Benson Tech Show. CKFM-FM (''99.9 Virgin Radio'') is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting on 99.9 MHz in Toronto, Ontario. The station is owned by Bell Media. The station airs a Top 40/CHR format, and is the flagship of Canada's "Virgin Radio" stations. CKFM's studios are located at 250 Richmond Street West in the Entertainment District, while its transmitter is located at the top of the CN Tower.
