CDU Hamburg
The CDU Hamburg is the regional state association of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) in Hamburg, Germany. As of 2019, there are about 6,474 members in the association, about 40 percent are women. In 1946, from 1953 to 1957 and from 2001 to 2011, the party appointed the First Mayor of Hamburg. The CDU Hamburg has been part of the opposition since 2011. Seven district associations and 47 local associations form the basis for the political commitment of the CDU Hamburg. In 2020, two-time member of the Bundestag Christoph Ploß had been elected as chairman of the party. Christoph Ploß
Christoph Ploß (born 19 July 1985) is a German politician of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) who has been serving as a member of the Bundestag from the state of Hamburg since 2017. Early life Ploß completed his abitur at the Gelehrtenschule des Johanneums in 2005. From 2015 until 2017, he worked in media relations at Bauer Media Group. Political career Ploß became a member of the Bundestag after the 2017 German federal election. He is a member of the Committee on European Affairs and the Committee on Transport and Digital Infrastructure. In addition to his committee assignments, Ploß has been chairing the German Parliamentary Friendship Group for Relations with Arabic-Speaking States in the Middle East since 2022. 2008 Hamburg State Election
The 2008 Hamburg state election was held on 24 February 2008 to elect the members of the 19th Hamburg Parliament. The incumbent Christian Democratic Union led by First Mayor Ole von Beust government lost its majority. The CDU subsequently formed a coalition government with the Green Alternative List. Direct Election
Direct election is a system of choosing political officeholders in which the voters directly cast ballots for the persons or political party that they desire to see elected. Dietrich Wersich (born April 27, 1964) is a German politician of the German Christian Democratic Union (CDU), and physician. Since March 7, 2011 he is chairman of the CDU parliamentary Group in the Hamburg state legislature (Hamburgische Bürgerschaft), the largest opposition party. 2015 Bremen State Election
The 2015 Bremen state election was held on 10 May 2015 to elect the members of the Bürgerschaft of Bremen, as well as the city councils of Bremen and Bremerhaven. 2020 Hamburg State Election
The 2020 Hamburg state election was held on 23 February 2020 to elect the members of the 22nd Hamburg Parliament. The outgoing government was a coalition of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) and The Greens led by First Mayor Peter Tschentscher. Despite losses, the SPD remained comfortably in first place with 39% of votes. The Greens doubled their vote share to 24%, becoming the second largest party in the state Parliament for the first time.
