Santana Filomena Ceirico Camilo "Cyriaco" Dias (born 16 March 1937) is an Indian actor, playwright, theatre director, singer, Freedom fighters in Goa, freedom fighter, and social worker known for his work in Konkani cinema, Konkani films and ''tiatr'' productions. Throughout his career, he has performed in over 1,000 dramas and has accumulated over 4,500 acting credits. Early life Dias was born on 16 March 1937, in Raia, Goa, a region that was under Portuguese rule as part of Portuguese India during the era of the Portuguese Empire. Presently, Raia is located in India. Dias hailed from a musically gifted family, with his father, Pedro Joao Dias (later known as Peter John Menino Dias), being a musician and maestro, while his mother, Maria Henriquita Dias, was a homemaker. Institute Menezes Braganza is a cultural institution set up by the Portuguese in colonial times, during the late 19th century. It was taken over by the Government of Goa and continues to play a role in cultural activities of Goa. In recent years, its takeover by the government was fought over in the Bombay High Court. Leena Dias (née Fernandes; 19 December 1929 – 30 July 2021) was an Indian actress known for her role in the first Konkani film, ''Mogacho Aunddo'' (1950). She is credited as the inaugural leading lady of Konkani cinema. Career Al Jerry Braganza's inspiration to create a Konkani film emerged during a stroll along Marine Drive, Mumbai, where he observed the prominent display of posters for English, Hindi, and Marathi films. Motivated by this observation, Jerry Braganza embarked on a mission to realize his ambition of producing a Konkani film. Calangute
Calangute is a town in the North Goa district of the Indian state of Goa. It is famous for its beach, the largest in North Goa and a popular tourist destination. Manuel J. D'Lima ( – October 2016) was an Indian former playwright, theatre director, musician, and banker known for his work in ''tiatr'' productions and radio plays. He began his career in his hometown of Porvorim, Goa. Following his move to Santacruz, Mumbai, Santacruz, Bombay, D'Lima began to produce commercial theatre productions. Later, he began to write radio plays and Radio comedy, skits on All India Radio, Bombay. A former member of the Goan cover band The Syndicate, D'Lima became known mainly for his liturgical drama, religious plays that he staged during the Lent season in Goa or Bombay.
