Curtis Taylor (American Football)
Curtis Trishton Taylor (born July 13, 1985) is an American football safety who is currently a free agent. The San Francisco 49ers drafted him in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He played college football at Louisiana State University (LSU). He played high school football at Frankliinton High School in Franklinton, Louisiana. He also played for the Oakland Raiders, Arizona Cardinals and Sacramento Mountain Lions. Professional career San Francisco 49ers Taylor was drafted in the seventh round, 219th overall pick, by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2009 NFL Draft. He was released by the 49ers on September 3, 2011. Oakland Raiders On January 5, 2012, Taylor signed a future/reserve contract with the Oakland Raiders. Safety (American Football Position)
Safety is a position in gridiron football on the defense. The safeties are defensive backs who line up ten to fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. There are two variations of the position: the free safety and the strong safety. Their duties depend on the defensive scheme. The defensive responsibilities of the safety and cornerback usually involve pass coverage towards the middle and sidelines of the field. While American (11-player) formations generally use two safeties, Canadian (12-player) formations generally have one safety and two defensive halfbacks, a position not used in the American game. 2009 NFL Draft
The 2009 NFL Draft was the seventy-fourth annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible football players. The draft took place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, New York, on April 25 and 26, 2009. The draft consisted of two rounds on the first day, starting at 4:00 pm EDT, and five rounds on the second day, starting at 10:00 am EDT. To compensate for the time change from the previous year and in an effort to help shorten the draft, teams were no longer on the clock for 15 minutes in the first round and 10 minutes in the second round. Each team now had 10 minutes to make their selection in the first round and seven minutes in the second round. Rounds three through seven were shortened to five minutes per team. The 2012 NFL draft was the 77th annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible American football players for their rosters. Brandon Alex Taylor (born January 29, 1990) is a former American football safety. He played college football at Louisiana State University. The Chargers selected him with the 73rd overall pick in the third round of the 2012 NFL draft, in which he was considered one of the top safety prospects. College career Taylor attended Louisiana State University from 2008 to 2011. During his career he started 33 of 49 games and recorded 160 tackles, four interceptions and a sack. Tyrann Devine Mathieu (; born May 13, 1992) is an American football safety for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at LSU. In sports, the practice squad, also called the taxi squad or practice roster, is a group of players signed by a team but not part of their main roster. Frequently used in gridiron football, they serve as extra players during the team's practices, often as part of the scout team by emulating an upcoming opponent's play style. Because the players on the practice squad are familiar with the team's plays and formations, the practice squad serves as a way to develop inexperienced players for promotion to the main roster.
