Country Music Concert
Country Music Concert is a 1966 live album by country singer Willie Nelson. Recording The album was recorded live at Panther Hall in Fort Worth over two nights in July 1966 with Nelson backed by Johnny Bush on drums and Wade Ray on bass, although producer Felton Jarvis had Chip Young overdub guitar parts and steel guitar fills in RCA’s Nashville studio. Despite the low sales of his tepid RCA albums, which were given the Nashville Sound treatment, Nelson enjoyed a loyal fan following in his home state of Texas largely on the basis of his freewheeling live shows. Like his friend and future fellow outlaw Waylon Jennings, Nelson was covering the Beatles during this period, and ''Country Music Concert'' contains his version of " Yesterday". He was one of the main figures of the outlaw country subgenre that developed in the late 1960s as a reaction to the conservative restrictions of the Nashville sound. Wade Ray (April 13, 1913 in Evansville, Indiana – November 11, 1998 in Sparta, IL) was an American Western Swing fiddler and vocalist. "Night Life" is a song written by country music singer-songwriter Willie Nelson. Nelson was inspired to write the song during one of his trips from his home in Pasadena, Texas, to his work, singing at the Esquire Ballroom in Houston. Due to financial issues, Nelson sold the song to guitar instructor Paul Buskirk for $150. The recording of the song was rejected by Pappy Daily, owner of Nelson's label, D Records. Daily believed that the song was not country. Encouraged by the amount of money he received for the song, Nelson decided to master it at another studio. To avoid legal actions, it was recorded as "Nite Life" under the artist name of "Paul Buskirk and the Little Men featuring Hugh Nelson." Alsie "Rex" Griffin ( – ) was an American country musician and songwriter. Early life Griffin was born in Gadsden, Alabama as the second of seven children to Marion and Selma Griffin. He grew up on a farm and received little schooling, eventually finding work in the factory where his father worked as a teenager. He played harmonica initially, but picked up guitar soon after, playing locally in a style heavily influenced by Jimmie Rodgers. The song was released as the A-side of the single for his second Liberty Records album, '' Here's Willie Nelson''.
