Samantha Jade Cookes, (born 1988 in Gloucestershire, UK) is a serial fraudster with multiple criminal convictions. First convicted in the UK in 2011, between 2014 and 2024 she perpetrated multiple scams in Ireland under the pseudonyms Carrie Jade Williams, Jade O'Sullivan, Jade Cooke, Rebecca Fitzgerald, Lucy FitzWilliams, and Sadie Harris,. Often posing as a nanny or children’s therapist, Cookes gained the trust of unsuspecting families, before fleeing when her deceptions were uncovered. In 2020, posing as a writer with Huntington’s Disease, she won the Bodley Head Literature Prize. Two years later, she appeared on social media platform TikTok, where her claims of being discriminated against because of her illness went viral. An investigation into these claims by VICE World News led to the exposure of her many other scams and schemes. Thomas Cookes (MP)
Thomas Henry Cookes (25 October 1804 – 29 September 1900) was a British Member of Parliament. Cookes lived at Bentley Hall in Worcestershire, and was a captain in the county yeomanry. He was also a magistrate and a deputy lieutenant of the county. He stood for the Whigs in East Worcestershire at the 1832 UK general election, winning the seat. He held the seat in 1835, and stood down at the 1837 UK general election. Sir Thomas Cookes, 2nd Baronet
Sir Thomas Cookes, 2nd Baronet (bap. 1648 – 8 June 1701) was an English philanthropist who was the benefactor of Worcester College, Oxford and Bromsgrove School. Biography He was the eldest son of Sir William Cookes, 1st Baronet, of Norgrove Court, Worcestershire, and his second wife, Mercy, née Dinely. He began his studies at Pembroke College, Oxford in June 1667, going on to Lincoln's Inn in June 1669. Following the death of his father, he succeeded to the baronetcy in July 1672, His seat was Bentley Pauncefoot, Bentley Pauncefote at Tardebigge, Worcestershire. Both of Cookes's marriages were without issue. He died on 8 June 1701 and was buried next to his first wife in Tardebigge church on 10 June. Legacy In 1693 Cookes endowed Bromsgrove School. In his will, he then left £10,000 in trust to endow a new college at the University of Oxford, or to add to an existing foundation there. The Cookes Baronetcy, of Norgrove in the County of Worcester, was a title in the Baronetage of England. It was created on 24 December 1664 for William Cookes, in reward of his support for the Royalist cause during the Civil War. The second Baronet was the founder of Worcester College, Oxford.
