''New Tricks'' is a British Metropolitan Police Service, police procedural drama, procedural comedy-drama that follows the fictional Unsolved Crime and Open Case Squad (UCOS) of the Metropolitan Police Service. The show was created by Roy Mitchell and Nigel McCrery, and premiered in 2003 with a 90-minute special, which later resulted in show's first full series airing. ''New Tricks'' ran for twelve series – from 2003 until 2015 – concluding on 6 October 2015. BBC controller Charlotte Moore and BBC drama controller Ben Stephenson explained the reason behind the show's cancellation on 24 February 2015, stating that "it's important to make room for new series and continue to increase the range of drama on the channel". ''New Tricks'' is a British television police procedural comedy drama, created by Nigel McCrery and Roy Mitchell, produced primarily by Wall to Wall (until its final year, when it was handled by Headstrong Pictures), and broadcast on BBC One. The programme originally began with a pilot episode on 27 March 2003, before a full series was commissioned for 1 April 2004; ''New Tricks'' concluded after twelve series on 6 October 2015. Alison Hume
Alison Louise Hume is a British Labour Party politician and television writer who has been Member of Parliament (MP) for Scarborough and Whitby since 2024. In television she is known for her work as creator and executive producer of the CBBC series ''The Sparticle Mystery'' and the BBC drama '' Rocket Man''. Paul Seed (born 18 September 1947) is a British television director and former actor. Barb Audiences Ltd (formerly Broadcasters Audience Research Board) is a British organisation that compiles audience measurement and television ratings in the United Kingdom. It was created in 1981 to replace two previous systems whereby ITV (TV network), ITV ratings were compiled by JICTAR (Joint Industry Committee for Television Audience Research), whilst the BBC did their own audience research.
