Concord is an unincorporated community in Sussex County, Delaware, United States. Concord is located along Delaware Route 20, east of Seaford. Concord, Sussex County, Delaware should not be confused with Concord, New Castle County, Delaware; the latter is a populated place located in Wilmington, bordering the northern edge of the city along Delaware Route 202. Pine Grove Furnace Site
The Pine Grove Furnace Site is a historic colonial industrial site in rural Sussex County, Delaware. Pine Grove was one of the first blast furnaces to be set up in what is now southern Delaware (along with Deep Creek). The endeavor was begun Thomas Lightfoot and Abraham Mitchel, who apparently had the furnace built by late 1765. The exact fate of the works is unclear; it is last mentioned in the documentary record in 1773, and its operations may have been curtailed by the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War a few years later. The site, which included a dam, was located about above the confluence of Deep Creek with the Nanticoke River. The site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Delaware Route 202 (DE 202), also known as Concord Avenue, is a short state highway mostly within Wilmington, Delaware. It runs from U.S. Route 13 Business (US 13 Bus., North Market Street) north to a modified cloverleaf interchange with Interstate 95 (I-95) and US 202 just beyond the northern city limits. North of the interchange, the route becomes US 202 northbound, also known as the Concord Pike. The road is two lanes and undivided for most of its length except for the part just south of the I-95 interchange, which is four lanes and divided. Delaware Route 20 (DE 20) is an east–west state highway in Sussex County, Delaware. Its western terminus is the Maryland state line in Reliance, where it continues as Maryland Route 392 (MD 392). Its eastern terminus is DE 54 west of Fenwick Island. The route runs through rural areas of Sussex County and passes through the towns of Seaford, Millsboro, and Dagsboro. DE 20 intersects U.S. Route 13 (US 13) in Seaford, US 9 in Hardscrabble, US 113 and DE 24/ DE 30 in Millsboro, DE 26 in Dagsboro, and DE 17 in Roxana. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and locative information about more than two million physical and cultural features throughout the United States and its territories, Antarctica, and the associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau.
