Conception (band)
Conception is a Norwegian progressive power metal band from Raufoss, originally active from 1989 to 1997, during which they released four studio albums. The band reunited in 2018, twenty years after originally disbanding, has since released one studio album and an EP. History 1989–1997: Original years The band began when guitarist Tore Østby joined three local musicians, who were playing covers of metal bands for their own enjoyment. Tore ended up getting ambitions of beginning his own work and started writing original material. Around the same time, the band acquired Dag Østby as their vocalist and the band named themselves "Redrum". The band was active for only a few months before the three local members left abruptly. Tore and Dag recruited Werner Skogli as the band's drummer as well as Tranberg alumnus Freddy Samsonstuen for bass guitar. Raufoss
Raufoss is a town in Vestre Toten Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The town is the administrative centre of the municipality. It is located about south of the larger town of Gjøvik. The town is located along the municipal border with the neighboring Gjøvik Municipality and the actual urban area of Raufoss does cross the border slightly, including a small part of Gjøvik as well (as defined by Statistics Norway). The town has a population (2021) of 7,839 and a population density of . Of these numbers, of the town and 7,565 people live in the Vestre Toten part of the town and of the town and 274 people live in the part of Raufoss that is in Gjøvik. ''State of Deception'' is the fifth studio album by the Norwegian progressive metal band, Conception. It is the band's first album in two decades with new material, and was released on 3 April 2020. A music video for "No Rewind" was released on 22 May 2021. On 6 June 2021, Conception announced that they would be releasing an expanded edition of the album in 2022, featuring live tracks, re-recordings and new songs. Critical reception Alan Cox, a reporter from ''Sonic Perspectives'' rated the album 8.1 out of 10, and stated: "''State of Deception'' is not a perfect record. For one, it’s too short.
