Con Constantine (born 1 July 1945) is a Cypriot Australian businessman and the former owner of the Australian football (soccer) club Newcastle United Jets. Biography Early life Con Constantine migrated to Australia with his parents and siblings from the town of Maroni, near Larnaka, Cyprus at the age of 10. At a young age, he started working in a takeaway food store before going on to sell houseplants. In 1985, he built Parklea Markets (on the site of a former drive-in cinema), initially operating it as a plant nursery while seeking council approval. After approval was granted, Parklea Markets quickly established itself as one of the premier retail destinations in Western Sydney. In recent years, Constantine has expanded his interests to Newcastle, 150 km north of Sydney, where he is the owner of ''The Store''. Lugaid Mac Con, often known simply as Mac Con, was, according to medieval Irish legend and historical tradition, a High King of Ireland. He belonged to the Corcu Loígde, and thus to the Dáirine. His father was Macnia mac Lugdach, and his mother was Sadb ingen Chuinn, daughter of the former High King Conn Cétchathach. Mac Con may be to some extent identical with another legendary King of Tara from the Dáirine, Lugaid Loígde. After Macnia died, Sadb married Ailill Aulom, king of Munster and ''de facto'' king of the southern half of Ireland, and Lugaid became his foster-son. Con Sullivan (1886–1964) was a New Zealand international rugby league footballer who played in the 1900s and 1910s for various Australasian representative sides. Playing career Sullivan started his career playing rugby in Wellington where he was a representative player. In 1909 he switched codes and was selected to tour Australia, winning an international cap for New Zealand against Australia in 1909. He played 5 other tour matches, scoring 2 tries. In 1910 he started playing for North Sydney in the NSWRFL Premiership. Later in the year he played 2 matches for the Wellington rugby league team against Taranaki and Auckland. Constantinos "Con" Blatsis (born 6 July 1977) is a former Australian international association footballer who played as a defender. Club career Blatsis was born in Melbourne. He started his career at his home club South Melbourne making 104 league appearances before moving to English Premier League side Derby County in the summer of 2000. He subsequently joined First Division Sheffield Wednesday on loan making six appearances. After making only two appearances for Derby he was released and in March 2002 joined Division Two side Colchester United on a short-term deal. He made seven appearances for the club becoming a fan favorite in the process. However, he left the club at the end of the season. Constantinos "Con" Boutsianis (born 27 December 1971 in Melbourne) is an Australian football (soccer) player and former international, noted for his ability in dead ball situations. Career South Melbourne FC After impressive performances for the South Melbourne youth side, Ferenc Puskas placed faith in the young winger and called him up to the senior side. Boutsianis began his senior career with South Melbourne in the National Soccer League in 1989, and soon established himself as a goalscoring midfielder. Con Houlihan (6 December 1925 – 4 August 2012) was an Irish sportswriter. Despite only progressing to national journalism at the age of 46, he became "the greatest and the best-loved Irish sports journalist of all". Journalism career Over a lengthy career, Houlihan covered many Irish and international sporting events, from Gaelic football and hurling finals, to soccer and rugby World Cups, the Olympics and numberless race meetings inside and outside Ireland. He was a journalist with the Irish Press group writing for '' The Irish Press'', '' Evening Press'' and sometimes '' The Sunday Press'', until the group's demise in 1995. Sir Con Douglas Walter O'Neill (3 June 1912 – 11 January 1988) was a British civil servant and diplomat. He was the List of Ambassadors of the United Kingdom to China, British Ambassador to China (1955–1957) and the List of Ambassadors of the United Kingdom to Finland, British Ambassador to Finland (1961–1963).
