Colour Club
Colour Club is an American smooth jazz group that was founded in the 1990s by Skipper Wise and Les Pierce. Wise and Pierce formed Colour Club in the early 1990s as a combination of smooth jazz and hip hop. For their second and third albums they hired vocalist Lisa Taylor (R&B singer), Lisa Taylor with guest musicians such as Gary Meek and Rick Braun. Their self-titled debut in 1994 included the single "Freedom Words". The video was nominated for an American Music Award. History In 1994, Skipper was introduced to Les Pierce who had a Top 40 hit at the time with the pop group “Louie Louie” and was producing the vocal group, Take 6. Color (American English) or colour (British English) is the visual perceptual property deriving from the spectrum of light interacting with the photoreceptor cells of the eyes. Color categories and physical specifications of color are associated with objects or materials based on their physical properties such as light absorption, reflection, or emission spectra. Skipper Wise
Bernard Louis "Skipper" Wise (born March 6, 1957) is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and entrepreneur born in Los Angeles. In 1983, he fronted the contemporary jazz group, Windows, which delivered four top 10 radio records punctuated by the album, " The French Laundry," which reached number one on the radio charts. Wise's solo debut onto the music scene came with the 1989 Top 30 Single, "Standing Outside in the Rain" on the European pop charts. Partnering with produceLes Piercein 1994, Colour Club was born, delivering three albums from JVC America, with the self-titled album reaching number seven on the radio charts. Several videos and singles in the US and Japan helped establish Colour Club as a pioneer in the acid jazz movement of the 1990s. Best known for his music recording career, Wise is also the co-founder of Blue Microphones, the audio manufacturer. Lisa Taylor (R&B Singer)
Lisa Taylor is an American R&B singer. She is best known for her solo album '' Secrets of the Heart'', including the R&B singles "Did You Pray Today?" (#40) and "Secrets of the Heart" (#41), " Don’t Waste My Time" from The Meteor Man soundtrack, and for singing as a featured and background vocalist for artists including Burt Bacharach, Janet Jackson, Philip Bailey, Patti LaBelle, and Elvis Costello, among others. Gary Meek
Gary Meek (born March 16, 1961) is an American jazz and fusion saxophone and keyboard artist. As a featured artist or session musician he has contributed to more than 150 albums. Biography Gary Meek was born in 1961 in Encino, California. His father played piano recreationally. Meek attended El Camino Real High School, where he was active in the music department on clarinet, saxophones and keyboard. After high school he attended Los Angeles Pierce College and subsequently enrolled in the Dick Grove School of Music Professional Instrumental Program. Meek began his career in the early 1980s playing woodwinds in the big bands of the Los Angeles Jazz Workshop, and keyboards and woodwinds for local club dates, weddings and private parties. In the mid-'80s he toured with Dionne Warwick, playing keyboards. In 1987, Meek began a two-decade association with Brazilian jazz artists Airto Moreira and Flora Purim. Rick Braun
Rick Braun (born July 6, 1955) is a smooth jazz trumpet, flugelhorn, trombone and keyboards player, vocalist, composer, and record producer. Career Braun was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania and attended Dieruff High School. His mother was a self-taught pianist and banjoist. Braun played drums at Dieruff High School, and followed his brother in playing trumpet. In the 1970s, he attended the Eastman School of Music, and while a student there became a member of a jazz-fusion band, Auracle, along with, amongst others, keyboards player John Serry, saxophone and flute player Steve Kujala and vibes player Steve Rehbein (later Steve Raybine). The band worked with producer Teo Macero and Braun co-produced the second album City Slickers (minus John Serry and Steve Kujala).
