The colonial history of the United States covers the period of European colonization of the Americas, European colonization of North America from the late 15th century until the unifying of the Thirteen Colonies, Thirteen British Colonies and creation of the United States in 1776, during the American Revolutionary War, Revolutionary War. In the late 16th century, Kingdom of England, England, Kingdom of France, France, Habsburg Spain, Spain, and the Dutch Republic launched major colonization expeditions in North America.
