Colasposoma Viridicoeruleum
''Colasposoma viridicoeruleum'' is a species of beetle belonging to the family Leaf beetle, Chrysomelidae, described by Victor Motschulsky in 1860. It is known as a pest of sweet potatoes. The species was formerly known as ''Colasposoma auripenne'' until 2003, when ''C. auripenne'' was determined to be a synonym of ''C. viridicoeruleum''. It is sometimes considered a southern subspecies of ''Colasposoma dauricum'', using the name ''Colasposoma dauricum auripenne''. Description ''Colasposoma viridicoeruleum'' can reach a length of . The body is metallic green, blue or dark violaceous. Head is closely punctured, with black antennae. Thorax is twice as broad as long, with rounded sides and a punctured surface. Elytra show more strong punctures in irregular rows. Distribution This species can be found in India, Andaman Islands, Myanmar, Malayan Subregion (Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Java, Borneo and all the Indonesian Archipelago), Amur River region and China. Colasposoma Sellatum
''Colasposoma sellatum'' is a species of leaf beetle from Australia and Papua New Guinea, described by Joseph Sugar Baly in 1878. In Australia, it is found around Darwin in the Northern Territory, in the north-east of Queensland and on the Torres Strait Islands. It is the only member of the genus ''Colasposoma'' found in Australia, where it is known as a pest of sweet potatoes. Description Adults are between 6.2 and 9.2 mm in length, and are strongly metallic in appearance. They are generally coloured green or blue, rarely coppery or purple, though they frequently have a different colour along the elytral suture or lateral margins. The legs are black with metallic reflections. The basalmost segment of each antennae is usually black, or sometimes reddish-brown; the next five segments are reddish-brown and the last five are black. Larvae are white, with a body length of approximately 1.5 mm in the first instar An instar (, from the Latin '' Ä«nstar'' 'form, likeness') ...

Colasposoma Aeneoviolaceum Aeneoviolaceum
''Colasposoma aeneoviolaceum'' is a species of leaf beetle of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It was first described by the Belgian entomologist in 1941. Description Adults measure between 7 and 10 mm in length. They have a shiny bronze-coloured dorsum, while the edges of the pronotum, the underparts and the feet are violet in colour. However, one specimen from Moliro was found with a blue underside. The species generally resembles '' Colasposoma overlaeti''. Subspecies There are two subspecies of ''C. aeneoviolaceum'': * ''Colasposoma aeneoviolaceum aeneoviolaceum'' Burgeon, 1941: the nominotypical subspecies * ''Colasposoma aeneoviolaceum elisabethae'' Burgeon, 1941: Compared to the nominal form, the adults differ in their bronze colouring, have a cupreous or tanned underside, and have less abundant elytral punctuation. The subspecies was described from Élisabethville (now Lubumbashi Lubumbashi ( , ; former ; former ) is the second-largest Cities of the D ...

Maurice Pic
Maurice Pic (23 March 1866, in Marrigny near Digoin – 29 December 1957, in Les Guerreaux) was a French entomologist who specialised in Coleoptera. He contributed to Mary-Louis Fauconnet's ''Catalogue raisonné des coléoptères de Saône-et-Loire'' (Le Creusot, Martet, 1887) and wrote many short papers, many in ''L'Échange, Revue Linnéenne'' describing world beetles. Annals And Magazine Of Natural History
The ''Journal of Natural History'' is a scientific journal published by Taylor & Francis focusing on entomology and zoology. The journal was established in 1841 under the name ''Annals and Magazine of Natural History'' (''Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist.'') and obtained its current title in 1967. The journal was formed by the merger of '' Loudon and Charlesworth's Magazine of Natural History'' (1828–1840) and the ''Annals of Natural History'' (1838–1840; previously the ''Magazine of Zoology and Botany'', 1836–1838). In September 1855, the ''Annals and Magazine of Natural History'' published "On the Law which has Regulated the Introduction of New Species", a paper which Alfred Russel Wallace had written while working in the state of Sarawak on the island of Borneo in February of that year."On the Law Which Has Reg ...

Joseph Sugar Baly
Joseph Sugar Baly (1816 – 27 March 1890) was an English medical doctor and entomologist. He described a number of species of beetle in the family Chrysomelidae. Baly was born in Warwick, first son of Joseph Baly. He studied at the local grammar school under Reverend George Innes. He then studied at St. George's Hospital and worked with Dr Burd at the Shrewsbury Infirmary. He also studied in Paris before practicing medicine at Leamington. He later established a large practice in London. He became interested in entomology in his thirties after taking up microscope studies. Baly became a specialist on the leaf-feeding beetles, then placed in the Coleoptera: Chrysomeloidea, Phytophaga. He mostly described species collected by others and was one of the first entomologists to examine the male genitalia of insects for species diagnosis. He sold off his London practice in 1868 due to poor health and moved back to Warwick where he served as an honorary curator of the museum. He worked o ...
