Co-ed Group
A co-ed group, also known as a coed group, mixed-gender group or mixed-sex group, is a vocal group that includes both male and female singers, usually in their teenage years or in their twenties. Historically, co-ed groups have not been as common in pop music as girl groups and boy groups. Music industry pundits have pointed out that such groups are difficult to market to the typical target demographic of teen pop acts, namely pre-teen and teen girls. According to music writer Jake Austen, girl groups and boy group appeal to young girls in distinct ways, with girl groups marketed as role models and boy groups marketed as objects of desire, and mixing the two is "unnecessarily confusing". RBD was a Mexican Latin pop group that gained popularity from Televisa's telenovela ''Rebelde'' (2004–2006). It was composed of Anahí, Dulce María, Maite Perroni, Alfonso Herrera, Christopher von Uckermann and Christian Chávez. Folder 5 (also spelled Folder5) (フォルダファイヴ ''Forudafaivu'') was a five-girl Japanese pop idol group on the Avex Trax music label. The group's music was known for its Eurobeat style. The band's music was produced by Takashi Kimura. Band History Folder 5 was a spinoff group from another J-pop group Folder, also signed to Avex. Along with the five girls, Folder also had two male members, Daichi and Joe. Daichi and Joe left the band due to puberty. Folder then became Folder 5. In 2000 they released their first single, "SUPERGIRL". Their third single, "Believe", was used as the second opening theme for the popular anime ''One Piece''. Timbiriche (also known for a brief time as La Banda Timbiriche) was a Mexican pop music group. The group started as a children's group in 1981 and managed to evolve successfully into adulthood. Timbiriche is considered one of the most iconic Latin Pop acts of the 1980s and the early 1990s. It was the start of numerous figures in the Latin American entertainment world, including successful singers like Thalía, Paulina Rubio and Edith Márquez, as well as actors, composers and conductors. The discography of the band consists of twelve studio albums released between 1982 and 1993, in addition to two compilation albums and two discs recorded live. Liberty X (originally called Liberty) are a British girl group consisting of Michelle Heaton, Jessica Taylor and Kelli Young. The group's best-known line-up also included Tony Lundon and Kevin Simm. The group was formed by the five finalists of the 2001 ITV (TV network), ITV talent show ''Popstars (British TV series), Popstars'' who failed to make it into the winning group Hear'Say. A Touch of Class (often shortened in initials as ATC) were an international Eurodance group based in Germany. The pop group was active from 1997 and their most successful release was "Around the World (La La La La La)", released in 2000. The group disbanded at the end of 2003. Ace of Base is a Swedish pop group formed in 1987, originally consisting of siblings Jonas, Linn, and Jenny Berggren, with Ulf Ekberg. Hear'Say were a British pop group. They were created through the ITV (TV network), ITV reality TV show ''Popstars (British TV series), Popstars'' in February 2001, the first UK series of the international ''Popstars'' Media franchise, franchise. The group, who were signed to Polydor Records, originally consisted of Danny Foster (musician), Danny Foster, Myleene Klass, Kym Marsh, Suzanne Shaw, and Noel Sullivan. A-Teens (stylized as A*Teens) is a Swedish pop music group from Stockholm. The group was formed by Niklas Berg in 1998 as an ABBA tribute group called ABBA-Teens, which was later renamed A-Teens. The band members are Marie Serneholt, Amit Sebastian Paul, Amit Paul, Dhani Lennevald, and Sara Lumholdt. S Club, formerly known as S Club 7, are a British pop group formed in 1998 by Simon Fuller after he was fired as manager of the Spice Girls. Aqua is a Danish-Norwegian eurodance band, best known for their 1997 single " Barbie Girl".
