Clube Atlético Joseense, more commonly referred to as Joseense, is a Brazilian football club based in São José dos Campos, São Paulo. It competes in the Campeonato Paulista Segunda Divisão, the fourth tier of the São Paulo state football league. In 2005, Joseense signed a four-year partnership with Grupo HR Sports. In January 2014, the club changed name to São José dos Campos Futebol Clube, but due to the existence of São José Esporte Clube, the club was again renamed to Clube Atlético Joseense in October 2017. Estádio Municipal Dr. Mário Martins Pereira, usually known simply as Estádio Martins Pereira is a football (soccer) stadium in São José dos Campos, São Paulo state, Brazil. The stadium holds 12,234 people. It was inaugurated in 1970. The stadium is owned by the Municipality of Albergaria-a-Velha, and its formal name honors Mário Martins Pereira, who, together with his brother, called Nélson, donated the groundplot where the stadium was built. History The city's stadium in the late 1960s, called ''Estádio da Rua Antônio Saes'', had a maximum capacity of only 5,000 people, and wood bleachers, so, it was sold to allow the building of Estádio Martins Pereira. The Brazilian states football championships are the professional adult male soccer competitions in Brazil that take place between January and April for the Northeast, Central-West, Southeast and South regions. In some states from the North Region, however, it takes place in May or June. Historically, for economic and geographic reasons, such as long distances between the country's main cities, the state leagues were considered the most important championship for Brazilian clubs, especially before 1959, when a regular national championship (Taça Brasil) was first established.
