Club Africain () is a Tunisian professional basketball club from Tunis. The club competes in the Championnat Pro A, the top tier of professional basketball in Tunisia. The team has won the national championship five times, the last time being in 2025. Notable players of the team include senior men's Tunisian national basketball team members Mourad El Mabrouk, Marouan Kechrid, Marouen Lahmar, and Naim Dhifallah. History The basketball section of Club Africain was established in 1956. The team entered the first-level Championnat National A in the 1979–80 season. Three years later, in 1982, the club won its first trophy when it captured the Tunisian Basketball Cup, Tunisian Cup. Championnat Pro A
The Championnat Pro A, is the highest tier professional basketball league in Tunisia, established in 1956. As the 2024–25 season, the league features 10 teams. The league is organised by the Tunisia Basketball Federation (FTBB). ES Radès (basketball), ES Radès is the record holder for most titles, with a total of thirteen. The current champion is Club Africain (basketball), Club Africain, who won the title in the 2024–25 season. The champions of each season qualify directly for the regular season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL), the premier continental competition of Africa. Union Sportive Monastirienne (), commonly known as US Monastir, is a Tunisian professional basketball club based in Monastir. Established in 1959, the team plays in the Pro A the first division league in Tunisia and has won nine national championships. USMonastir also plays in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) since the inaugural season in 2021. Home games are played in the Mohamed-Mzali Sports Hall. Mário Palma
Mário Leonel Faria Borges de Palma (born 27 June 1950) is a Portuguese basketball coach. Career Palma was the coach of Angola at their first appearance at the FIBA Africa Championship, in 1980, finishing in seventh place. He later would be the coach of Benfica, leading the Portuguese squad to a golden era, where they won five titles at the Portuguese Championship and the Cup of Portugal. They also reached the final group of the European Champions Cup for the first time in 1993/94. Palma returned to the Angolan squad, where he won three titles in a row at the FIBA Africa Championship editions of 1999, 2001 and 2003. He was also the Angolan coach at the 2000 Summer Olympics and 2004 Summer Olympics. Dragan Petričević ( sr-cyr, Драган Петричевић; born 31 January 1969) is a Bosnian-Romanian professional basketball coach. He currently serves as a head coach for SCM Timișoara of the Liga Națională. The Tunisian Basketball Federation Cup or FTBB Cup, is an annual basketball cup in Tunisian men's basketball. The tournament is organised by the Tunisia Basketball Federation (FTBB) It is contested by the teams that did not qualify for the play-off phase of the Championnat National A. Since 2018, the games are played during the FIBA national teams qualifiers which means most games are contested without team's internationals. The Tunisian Basketball Super Cup or Champions Trophy, is an annual basketball super cup in Tunisian men's basketball opposing the Championnat Pro A champion to the winner of the Tunisian Cup (or the vice-champion if the champion is also the winner of the Tunisian Cup). The 2008 FIBA Africa Basketball Club Championship (23rd edition), was an international basketball tournament held in Sousse and Hammam, Tunisia, from December 12 to 21, 2008.
