Clive Andrew Williams
Clive Andrew Williams (1915–1980) was an Aboriginal Australian political activist. Early life As a child he was one of the very few aboriginal people to be accepted into Casino Intermediate High School. Political activism. During the 1960s Williams became involved with the Tranby Co-operative College for Aborigines at Glebe, Sydney, where he worked with religious leader William Alfred Clint. During this time Williams was elected as the vice-preside of the Sydney Aborigines Progressive Association. According to the Australian Dictionary of Biography, Williams joined the Aboriginal-Australian Fellowship, and was an attendee of the annual conferences of the Federal Council for the Advancement of Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders (FCAATSI). Aboriginal Australians are the various indigenous peoples of the Mainland Australia, Australian mainland and many of its islands, excluding the ethnically distinct people of the Torres Strait Islands. Commonwealth Film Unit
Film Australia was a company established by the Government of Australia to produce films about Australia in 1973. Its predecessors were the Cinema and Photographic Branch (1913–38), the Australian National Film Board (1939–1955, under different departments), and the Commonwealth Film Unit (1956–72). Film Australia became Film Australia Limited in 1988 and was consolidated into Screen Australia in 2008. Administration of the Film Australia Collection was transferred from Screen Australia to the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia on 1 July 2011. Myocardial Infarction
A myocardial infarction (MI), commonly known as a heart attack, occurs when Ischemia, blood flow decreases or stops in one of the coronary arteries of the heart, causing infarction (tissue death) to the heart muscle. The most common symptom is retrosternal Angina, chest pain or discomfort that classically radiates to the left shoulder, arm, or jaw. The pain may occasionally feel like heartburn. This is the dangerous type of acute coronary syndrome. Other symptoms may include shortness of breath, nausea, presyncope, feeling faint, a diaphoresis, cold sweat, Fatigue, feeling tired, and decreased level of consciousness. About 30% of people have atypical symptoms. Women more often present without chest pain and instead have neck pain, arm pain or feel tired. Bundjalung People
The Bundjalung people, also spelled Bunjalung, Badjalang and Bandjalang, are Aboriginal Australians who are the original custodians of a region from around Grafton, New South Wales, Grafton in northern coastal New South Wales to Beaudesert, Queensland, Beaudesert in south-east Queensland. The region is located approximately northeast of Sydney and south of Brisbane, Queensland, Brisbane that now includes the Bundjalung National Park. In the north, Bundjalung Nation shares a border with Yuggera Nation and Barrunggam Nation; to the east the Tasman Sea (Pacific Ocean); to the south Gumbaynggirr (also known as Kumbainggar) Nation; and to the west it borders Ngarabal Nation. ''One Man's Road'' (1967) is a short Australian documentary film about the experiences of Aboriginal Australians. The most prominent role in the movie was given to Aboriginal Australian activist Clive Andrew Williams (1915–1980). Upon the film's release, Williams was dismayed to find that the Australian Department of Territories had been using the movie as propaganda to promote the cultural assimilation of Aboriginal people. Alf Clint
William Alfred Clint (8 January 1906 – 21 April 1980) was an Australian priest in the Church of England in Australia (as the Anglican Church of Australia was then called). He established a number of Aboriginal co-operatives on behalf of the Australian Board of Missions, including Tranby Aboriginal College. Early life Clint was born in 1906 in Wellington, New Zealand, to John William Clint, a commercial traveller, and his wife Lilian Lancaster (née Cawdery). The family moved to Sydney when Clint was a child, and he was educated at Balmain Public School and Rozelle Junior Technical School, although he left early due to his father's unemployment. Career Clint worked for the Balmain Co-operative Society Ltd's store. Despite a Low Church upbringing, Clint was converted to the Anglo-Catholic Christian Socialism of Fr John Hope at Christ Church St Laurence.
