Clio Art Fair
Clio Art Fair is an international contemporary art fair staged bi-annually in New York City, and Los Angeles, USA. It focuses on independent visual artists, without any exclusive NYC or LA gallery representation. The purpose of the fair is to bring together artists and curators, collectors and art critics without any long term mediator. History Clio Art Fair was started in 2014 by art dealer and philanthropist Alessandro Berni. The name comes from ''Clio'' or ''Kleio'', one of the nine muses in Greek mythology, representing history. Etymologically derived from the Greek root κλέω/κλείω: “to celebrate,” or “to make famous.” In its inaugural year, displayed 33 artists representing 16 countries. In 2017, three years after its founding, the fair became bi-annual. In 2018, the fair moved to 335 west 35th street, New York, NY allowing it to expand both its exhibitor base and floor space. David Hayes (sculptor)
David Vincent Hayes (March 15, 1931 – April 9, 2013) was an American sculptor. Life Hayes received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1953, and a M.F.A. degree from Indiana University in 1955 where he studied with David Smith. He received a post-doctoral Fulbright Award and a Guggenheim Fellowship. He was a recipient of the Logan Medal of the Arts for Sculpture and an award from the National Institute of Arts and Letters. During his life, he had over 400 exhibitionsDavid Hayes Art Foundation archives and his work is included in some 100 institutional collections including those of the Museum of Modern Art and the Guggenheim Museum in New York City. In 2007, he was conferred an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree by Albertus Magnus College. Borinquen Gallo
"Borinquen Gallo (born 1975) is an Italian-Puerto Rican artist currently based in New York City. Biography and career When Borinquen Gallo was 13 she moved with her family from native Rome to New York City to volunteer as missionaries; they settled down in The Bronx. Throughout her teens, she started studying arts. She earned a BFA from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art and an MFA from Hunter College. Gallo is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Pratt Institute and works as an artist. After an initial phase during which she trained as a painter, she turned to plastic artworks. Her installations are mainly focused on questioning the relationship with the environment and, according to the artist, their objective is to sensitize people about the need for an harmonious coexistence and respect for nature. John Coplans
John Rivers Coplans (24 June 1920 – 21 August 2003) was a British artist, art writer, curator, and museum director. A veteran of World War II and a photographer, he emigrated to the United States in 1960 and had many exhibitions in Europe and North America. Zana Briski
Zana Briski (born 25 October 1966) is a British photographer and filmmaker, best known for '' Born into Brothels'', the 2004 Oscar winner of the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, which she directed. She founded Kids with Cameras, a non-profit organization that teaches the art of photography to marginalized children in communities throughout the world. Her interest in photography began at age 10. After earning a master's degree at the University of Cambridge, she studied documentary photography at International Center of Photography in New York. Michelangelo Pistoletto (born 23 June 1933) is an Italian painter, action and object artist, and art theorist.
