Clarinda, Alberta
Clarinda is a former unincorporated community in southern Alberta, Canada within the County of Warner No. 5. It is located south of Highway 501, southeast of the Town of Milk River, and east of the Village of Coutts. It is approximately southeast of the City of Lethbridge. An early postmaster gave the community the middle name of her mother, T. Clarinda Clark. Education Clarinda School District No. 2459 was formed June 10, 1911 at township 8 - 1 - 13 - W4. Alberta Provincial Highway No. 501, commonly referred to as Highway 501, is a highway in the province of Alberta, Canada. It runs west–east from Highway 5 east of Mountain View as gravel to Cardston, then pavement through Del Bonita and Milk River to Highway 879, then gravel again to the Saskatchewan border. It is also known as 9 Avenue in Cardston, and Centre Avenue in Milk River. From Highway 889, on through to Saskatchewan, it follows the path of the Red Coat Trail. The section of Highway 501 between Cardston and the ghost town of Whiskey Gap was originally designated as part of Highway 40, where Highway 40 continued south to the Canada–United States border. Milk River, Alberta
Milk River is a town in Alberta, Canada that is named after the Milk River which flows immediately to its south. This location results in Milk River being one of the few Canadian communities within the Mississippi River drainage system. It is south of Lethbridge, and from the Canada-U.S. border. Coutts ( ) is a village in southern Alberta, Canada that is a port of entry into the U.S. state of Montana. It is one of the busiest ports of entry on the Canada–United States border in western Canada. It connects Highway 4 to Interstate 15, an important trade route ( CANAMEX Corridor) between Alberta, American states along I-15, and Mexico. The community has the name of William Burdett-Coutts, a railroad official. Allerston, Alberta
Allerston, formerly Allersville, is an unincorporated community in Alberta, Canada within the County of Warner No. 5. It is located approximately east of the Town of Milk River and north of the Canada–US border on Township Road 24, off Highway 501. The community has the name of Jacob Allers, a pioneer citizen. All that remains of Allerston is a Roman Catholic Church and the Allerston Hall with baseball diamonds. The church was built in 1911 and opened on July 28, 1912. The church is still in use today. It was moved to a new foundation to the north. There is a cemetery behind the church. The Allerston Hall is still use for the annual Fall Bazar.
