Clare Gerada
Dame Clare Mary Louise Francis Gerada, Lady Wessely, (born November 1959) is a London-based general practitioner who is President of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and a former chairperson of the RCGP Council (2010–2013). She has professional interests in mental health and substance misuse. She is a convenor of the cross-party political movement, More United. Early life Gerada was born in Nigeria although her father came from Malta; the family moved to the United Kingdom in 1963. Her father opened a single-handed general practitioner practice in Peterborough. Medical career Gerada qualified in medicine at UCL Medical School in 1982. She then trained in psychiatry and worked at the Maudsley Hospital in south London. She qualified as a GP in 1992 and started work in general practice in Lambeth, London, the same year. Dame Commander Of The Most Excellent Order Of The British Empire
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. There is also the related British Empire Medal, whose recipients are affiliated with, but not members of, the order. Amanda Caroline Howe is a British medical doctor who works as a general practitioner and is a Professor of Primary Care. She is a former President of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and a former President of the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA). Doctors In Distress
Doctors in Distress is a British charity dedicated to reducing the prevalence of burn-out and suicide amongst health workers in the UK. It was set up in 2019 after the suicide of Dr Jagdip Sidhu, a cardiologist who killed himself in November 2018 by Amandip Sidhu, his brother. It campaigns for greater awareness of the pressures facing doctors and more compassionate and supportive workplaces and to help medical professionals to feel they can talk openly about issues like burnout and mental health. Chris Ham
Sir Chris Ham (born 15 May 1951), is a health policy academic who started life as a political scientist. He was chief executive of the King's Fund from 2010 to 2018. He was professor of health policy and management at University of Birmingham's health services management centre from 1992 to 2010. He was seconded to the Department of Health where he was Director of the Strategy Unit working with Alan Milburn and John Reid until 2004. He was said to be "unrivalled in his ability to distil and synthesise complex policy developments and present them in a clear and digestible manner for non-specialists" in 1999. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is an executive non-departmental public body of the Department of Health and Social Care of the United Kingdom.
