Clare Baldwin
Clare Baldwin is an American journalist. As a special correspondent for Reuters in the Philippines, she won a Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting in 2018 for investigating Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs since 2016. Early life and education Clare Baldwin grew up in Alaska's Matanuska-Susitna Valley. Both her parents were teachers. During high school, she did an internship at the local newspaper, the ''Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman''. After graduating from Colony High School, she attended Stanford University, where she majored in English and minored in human biology. Baldwin graduated from Stanford in 2005. Career Before joining Reuters in 2009, Baldwin wrote articles for ''Wired'' magazine and various regional newspapers. She then worked for Reuters’ San Francisco and New York offices, covering law, business and technology. A police witness testified that their arrests were a case of entrapment. It is believed their arrests were intended to intimidate journalists. The case received international attention. During 2018, Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo received a number of international awards, including being listed among ''Time'' magazine's Persons of the Year for 2018. They have been the subject of human rights appeals by Amnesty International, PEN America, and Reporters Without Borders. In the fields of molecular biology and genetics, a genome is all the genetic information of an organism. It consists of nucleotide sequences of DNA (or RNA in RNA viruses). The nuclear genome includes protein-coding genes and non-coding genes, other functional regions of the genome such as regulatory sequences (see non-coding DNA), and often a substantial fraction of 'junk' DNA with no evident function.
