''Churn'' is the debut studio album by American post-grunge Post-grunge is an offshoot of grunge that has a less abrasive or intense tone than traditional grunge. Of all the songs on the album, "Kater" was the only one that wasn't re-recorded for the band's major label debut, as the band sold the song off to a Chapel Hill based band called Stuntcock, who intended to release their own version of it as 'Casey the Madison King", though it is unknown if that ever came to fruition. Seven Mary Three (occasionally abbreviated to 7 Mary 3 or 7M3) is an American rock band. They released seven studio albums and one live album, and are best known for their hit single " Cumbersome". Career Formation Seven Mary Three formed in 1992 when Jason Ross and Jason Pollock met while attending The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Ross and Pollock split songwriting duties with Ross on lead vocals and rhythm guitar and Pollock on lead guitar and backing vocals. Bassist Casey Daniel and drummer Giti Khalsa joined the two, and the band began playing in coffeehouses and clubs. Origin of group name Guitarist Jason Pollock revealed in ''The Cavalier Daily'' that they came up with the name while watching the 1970s TV series ''CHiPs''. ''American Standard'' is the second studio album by American post-grunge band Seven Mary Three. It was released on September 5, 1995, on Mammoth Records. The album would be Seven Mary Three's breakthrough success, rising to number 24 on the ''Billboard'' 200 and was certified platinum in the United States and Canada. Many of the songs were rerecorded versions of tracks off Seven Mary Three's independent debut, '' Churn''. "Cumbersome" is a song by American rock band Seven Mary Three and the lead single from their breakthrough album, '' American Standard'' (1995). It was originally included on their independently released debut, '' Churn'', in 1994. The single was released in 1996 and became the band's most popular and well-known song.
