Chris Ryan (other)
Colin Armstrong, (born 1961), usually known by the pen-name Chris Ryan, is a British author, television presenter, security consultant and former Special Air Service sergeant. After the publication of fellow patrol member Andy McNab's ''Bravo Two Zero'' in 1993, Ryan published his own account of his experiences during the Bravo Two Zero mission in 1995, entitled '' The One That Got Away''. Since retiring from the British Army Ryan has published several fiction and non-fiction books, including ''Strike Back'', which was subsequently adapted into a television series for Sky 1, and co-created the ITV action series ''Ultimate Force''. He has also presented or appeared in numerous television documentaries connected to the military or law enforcement. Rowlands Gill is a village on the north bank of the River Derwent, in the Metropolitan Borough of Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, England. The Gibside Estate is near the town. Sky One was a British pay television channel operated and owned by Sky Group (a division of Comcast). Originally launched on 26 April 1982 as Satellite Television, it was Europe's first satellite and non- terrestrial channel. Cambodian Conflict (1979–1998)
The Cambodian conflict, also known as the Khmer Rouge insurgency, was an armed conflict that began in 1979 when the Khmer Rouge government of Democratic Kampuchea was deposed during the Cambodian-Vietnamese War. The war concluded in 1999 when the remaining Khmer Rouge forces surrendered. Between 1979 and the 1991 Paris Peace Agreements, the war was fought between the Vietnam-supported People's Republic of Kampuchea and an opposing coalition. After 1991, the unrecognized Khmer Rouge government and insurgent forces continued to fight against the new government of Cambodia from remote areas until their defeat in 1998. The People's Republic of Kampuchea (PRK) was a partially recognised state in Southeast Asia which existed from 1979 to 1989. It was a satellite state of Vietnam, founded in Cambodia by the Vietnamese-backed Kampuchean United Front for National Salvation, a group of Cambodian Communism, communists who were dissatisfied with the Khmer Rouge due to its oppressive rule and defected from it after the Cambodian–Vietnamese War, overthrow of Democratic Kampuchea, Pol Pot's government. Khmer Rouge
The Khmer Rouge is the name that was popularly given to members of the Communist Party of Kampuchea (CPK), and by extension to Democratic Kampuchea, which ruled Cambodia between 1975 and 1979. The name was coined in the 1960s by Norodom Sihanouk to describe his country's heterogeneous, communist-led dissidents, with whom he allied after the 1970 Cambodian coup d'état. The Kampuchea Revolutionary Army was slowly built up in the forests of eastern Cambodia during the late 1960s, supported by the People's Army of Vietnam, the Viet Cong, the Pathet Lao, and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Random House is an imprint and publishing group of Penguin Random House. Army Reserve (United Kingdom)
The Army Reserve is the active-duty volunteer reserve force of the British Army. It is separate from the Regular Reserve whose members are ex-Regular personnel who retain a statutory liability for service. Hookergate School was a secondary school and sixth form located in High Spen in the Metropolitan Borough of Gateshead, England. Originally founded as Hookergate Grammar School, the secondary school was formally merged with Ryton Comprehensive School in 2011, and was renamed Charles Thorp Comprehensive School (now Thorp Academy Thorp Academy is a large 11–18 secondary Academy (English school), Academy in Ryton, Tyne and Wear, Ryton, Tyne & Wear, England.
