Choco-Story New York: The Chocolate Museum and Experience with Jacques Torres was a museum of the history of chocolate-making. It was associated with Jacques Torres Chocolate, a chocolate manufacturer, wholesaler and retailer whose flagship store was on the premises. Located in the Hudson Square neighborhood of Manhattan, the museum was in space formerly occupied by the Jacques Torres manufacturing operation, which has since been moved to a much larger space in Brooklyn. The museum displayed artifacts related to the history of making chocolate, such as pottery and knives, going back to the time of the Maya in 3500 BC, as well items used in chocolate's consumption, such as a 1750 cup from Spain made of cocoanut shell and silver. Jacques Torres (born 14 June 1959) is a French pastry chef and chocolatier based in New York. Torres is a member of the International Culinary Center community as Dean of Pastry Arts, as well as holding pastry demonstrations. He appears on the show ''Nailed It!''. Biography Torres was born in Algiers and grew up in Bandol, a fishing village in the South of France. When Torres was 15 years old, he began an apprenticeship at a small pastry shop and completed his apprenticeship requirements in two years, graduating first in his class. Choco-Story Brugge
Mayan nobleman with cacao paste, in the Choco-Story museum Choco-Story, the Chocolate Museum in Bruges, Belgium, is located in the sixteenth-century "Huis de Crone" building on Sint-Jansplein (at the intersection of Wijnzakstraat and Sint-Jansstraat) in central Bruges. This building was originally the home of a wine tavern. It later housed a bakery and, most recently, a furniture making shop. Choco-Story was opened by Eddy Van Belle and his son, Cédric. The two are also the owners of Belcolade, a family-owned chocolate business. Museum visitors can watch chocolate being made.
