Murder Of Samuel Paty
The murder of Samuel Paty (), a French secondary school teacher, took place on 16 October 2020 in Éragny-sur-Oise, a suburb of Paris. Paty was killed and beheaded by an Islamist terrorist. The perpetrator, Abdoullakh Abouyedovich Anzorov, an 18-year-old Russian Muslim refugee, killed and beheaded Paty with a cleaver, and was shot and killed by the police minutes later. A social media campaign against Paty was linked to his subsequent murder. 2020 Dijon Riots
The 2020 Dijon riots took place in Dijon, in the French region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté for four consecutive days. Background On June 10, a 16-year-old Chechen boy was assaulted by French-Arab drug dealers from low-income district of Grésilles in Dijon which has a predominant population of North Africans. Members of the Chechen community reportedly posted about the incident on social media and urged people to come to the city in the boy's defense. The incident amplified tensions between the Chechens and North Africans. Riots In retaliation of the assault, approximately 150-200 Chechens from France, Belgium, and Germany stormed the neighborhood of Grésilles. The people participating wore hoods to conceal their identity and brandished clubs as well as firearms.
