Channel Live is an American hip hop duo composed of Vincent "Tuffy" Morgan and Hakim Green, which recorded for Capitol Records and Flavor Unit Records. Discovered by KRS-One, the duo released its debut album, ''Station Identification (album), Station Identification'', in 1995. KRS-One
Lawrence "Kris" Parker (born August 20, 1965), better known by his stage names KRS-One (; an abbreviation of "Knowledge Reigns Supreme Over Nearly Everyone") and Teacha, is an American rapper from the Bronx. He rose to prominence as part of the hip-hop group Boogie Down Productions, which he formed with DJ Scott La Rock in the mid-1980s. KRS-One is known for his songs "Sound of da Police", "Love's Gonna Get'cha (Material Love)", and "My Philosophy". Boogie Down Productions received numerous awards and critical acclaim in their early years. ''Station Identification'' is the first studio album by American hip hop duo Channel Live. It was released on March 21, 1995, via Capitol Records. The recording sessions took place at The Crib in New York City and at Palm Tree Studios. It was Hip hop production, produced by KRS-One, Salaam Remi, and Rheji Burrell. The album debuted at number 58 on the Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200 and number 9 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. The album is best known for its lead single, "Mad Izm", which was a collaboration with KRS-One. The song became Channel Live's biggest hit, peaking at number 54 on the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and number three on the Rap Songs, Hot Rap Singles. Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums is a music chart published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine that ranks R&B and hip-hop albums based on sales in the United States and is compiled by Luminate. The chart debuted as Hot R&B LPs in the issue dated January 30, 1965, in an effort by the magazine to further expand into the field of rhythm and blues music. ''Armaghetto'' is the second studio album by American hip hop duo Channel Live. It was released on July 18, 2000, through Flavor Unit Records. Recording sessions took place at Studio 57 and at the Weight Room in New York. Production was handled by Mike City, Poison Ivy, Buddah, Shamello, Chuckie Madness, and Channel Live themselves. Flavor Unit
The Flavor Unit is a crew of emcees and DJs from New York City and Northern New Jersey. It is now known as the Unit. The original version of the crew centered on producer the 45 King. It was Mark's connections to radio personalities DJ Red Alert and DJ Chuck Chillout that initially got the crew noticed, but the original members also all had formidable rhyme skills and wrote streetwise lyrics. Eventually, Queen Latifah took over the name and it became her umbrella organization. Flavor Unit Management is run by Latifah, one of the original members of the Flavor Unit, and Shakim Compere.
