The Centre de Recherche en Épistémologie Appliquée (CRÉA, Paris) — the Center for Research in Applied Epistemology — conducts research in humanities and the social sciences. It was founded in 1982 as a center for cognitive science and epistemology as part of the École Polytechnique in Paris. From the beginning it focused on two areas: # modeling the self-organization of complex systems related to cognition, economics and social phenomena, and # the philosophy of science, in particular the epistemology of cognitive science. Control theory is a field of control engineering and applied mathematics that deals with the control system, control of dynamical systems in engineered processes and machines. Serge Galam (born 1952) is a French physicist and Scientist Emeritus at CNRS. Biography In 1975, Serge Galam obtained a PhD in physics at the Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris. In 1981, he received a Ph.D. in physics at Tel Aviv University. From 1981 to 1983, he taught at City University of New York and from 1983 to 1985 at New York University. Michel Bitbol (born 12 March 1954) is a French researcher in philosophy of science. He is "Directeur de recherche" at CNRS, previously in the Centre de Recherche en Épistémologie Appliquée (CREA) of École polytechnique (Paris, France).
