Sporting Union Cavaillonnais XIII are a French Rugby league club based in Cavaillon, Vaucluse in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region. The club plays in the French National Division 1 which is the French rugby league's 3rd tier. Founded in 1938, their home games are played at the Stade Pagnetti. History Founded in 1938, when rugby club ''Sporting Union Cavaillonnais'' decided to switch codes to the expanding Rugby League. Remaining an amateur club they started their debut season in the 3rd tier 2nd Division where they would stay until the 1960s. By 1966 the club was in the 2nd tier ''National League 1'' and were semi-finalists in the league play-offs in 68/69 and better still they reached the Lord Derby Cup semi-finals in 72, Still to this day their best cup run. Stade (), officially the Hanseatic City of Stade (german: Hansestadt Stade, nds, Hansestadt Stood) is a city in Lower Saxony in northern Germany. National Division 2 is the fourth tier of rugby league in France, below the National Division 1. The season runs from September to April. The Division is split into 5 regional leagues, Languedoc-Roussillon, Midi-Pyrenees, Aquitaine, Ile de France and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (PACA). Clubs play each other home and away in their respective regional league with the top clubs progressing into a series of play-off matches to determine the champions. The champions can apply for promotion to the ''National Division 1''. This tier was formerly known as the Federal Championship. The National Division 1 is the third tier of rugby league in France, below the Elite Two Championship and above the National Division 2. The season runs from September to April. From season 2012–13 the league was split into regions ''East'' and ''West'', each team plays each other in their regional league home and away with the top sides then meeting in a series of play-off matches resulting in a Grand Final. The winner can be promoted to ''Elite Two'' subject to having adequate finances and facilities. Occasionally if the winners aren't able to be promoted, or opt out, then the team finishing second could be promoted. History The league was first played for in 1949-50 under the title 2nd Division. Roanne (; frp, Rouana; oc, Roana) is a commune in the Loire department, central France. It is located northwest of Lyon on the river Loire.
