Carnegie is an abandoned townsite in section 6 of Rose Dell Township in Rock County, Minnesota, United States. Rose Dell Township is a township in Rock County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 214 at the 2000 census. Rose Dell Township was organized in 1877, and named for the abundant wild roses in a dell. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 48.3 square miles (125.0 km), of which 48.2 square miles (125.0 km) is land and 0.04 square mile (0.1 km) (0.04%) is water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 214 people, 79 households, and 65 families residing in the township. The population density was 4.4 people per square mile (1.7/km). There were 87 housing units at an average density of 1.8/sq mi (0.7/km). The racial makeup of the township was 99.07% White, 0.47% Native American and 0.47% Asian. Rock County, Minnesota
Rock County is a county at the southwestern corner of the U.S. state of Minnesota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 9,704. Its county seat is Luverne. History The county was formed on May 23, 1857, by act of the territorial legislature, but was not organized at that time. The area was designated ''Pipestone County'', and the name ''Rock County'' was attached to the present Pipestone. In 1862 the Minnesota state legislature changed the designations, attaching the present names to the present counties. On March 5, 1870, the state legislature approved an act that finalized the county's organization and designated Luverne as the county seat. The county's name came from the Rock River, which in turn is named for a prominent rocky outcrop (designated "The Rock" on an 1843 map of the area) of reddish-gray quartzite, about 3 miles (5 km) north of Luverne. Jasper, Minnesota
Jasper is a city in Pipestone and Rock counties in the State of Minnesota. The population was 633 at the 2010 census. Most of the city lies in Pipestone County, with only a small part of the city extending into Rock County. History Jasper was platted in 1888. The city was named for deposits of jasper mined nearby. A post office has been in operation at Jasper since 1888. Jasper was incorporated in 1889. On July 8, 1927 a tornado near the town was photographed by Lucille Handberg.
