Carlton Kids
Carlton Kids was a British digital terrestrial pay television kids channel, provided by Carlton Television, which started broadcasting on 15th November 1998 and closed on 31st January 2000. Its sister channels were Carlton Food Network, Carlton World, Carlton Cinema and Carlton Select. It broadcast exclusively on ONdigital, the digital terrestrial pay-TV platform backed by Carlton and Granada, where it timeshared on channel 34 with Carlton World. The channel had limited coverage, reaching only 69% of the population via the lowest-powered terrestrial multiplex D, and newspapers and listings magazines were slow to feature the channel's programming. In the face of competition from several other dedicated children's channels in the UK market the channel ceased broadcasting at the end of January 2000 after 14 months, (1 year, 2 months) partly due to the limited uptake of the ONdigital platform, which was the only platform that the channel had carriage. Discovery Kids (British And Irish TV Channel)
Discovery Kids was a British and Irish pay television channel targeted towards a child audience. Initially launched in February 2000 exclusively on ONdigital (later ITV Digital) alongside its timesharing service Discovery Wings, it was soon expanded to other platforms such as Sky Digital and Virgin Media. The channel was closed with Discovery Wings on 28 February 2007 to make way for Discovery Turbo, which took over both the daytime and evening slots. The series was loosely based on Robert Louis Stevenson's original 1883 novel ''Treasure Island''. Featuring a mysterious and dark storyline, it incorporates magic and many new characters. Willo The Wisp
''Willo the Wisp'' is an English cartoon series originally produced in 1981 by the BBC and narrated by Kenneth Williams. It became popular with children and adults, as it bridged the gap between the end of weekday children's programming and the early evening news. A second series was produced in 2005. Both series 1 & 2 were released together on DVD and Blu-ray versions in the UK during late August 2024 by Fabulous Films. Original series (1981) The series was written and directed by Nick Spargo and produced by Nicholas Cartoon Films, in association with the BBC and Tellytales Enterprises. Tickle On The Tum
''Tickle on the Tum'' is a series of ten-minute programmes for young children produced by Granada Television and aired on the ITV network from 5 November 1984 until 29 November 1988. The series was set in the General Store and Post Office in the fictional village of Tickle-on-the-Tum (the humorous double-meaning of the title was explained obliquely in the theme song). The original presenters were folk-singer Ralph McTell, fresh from his stint on Granada's other children's series '' Alphabet Zoo'', and Danusia Harwood. ''Tots TV'' is a British children's television programme, produced by Ragdoll Productions and Central. The series was first telecast in the UK on the ITV network (part of CITV) from 1993 to 1998. Development ''Tots TV'' was written by two of its puppeteers, Robin Stevens (Tom) and Andrew Davenport (Tiny). The series was filmed on location in a small cottage, on farmland near Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire. The cottage was purpose-built for the series in the early 1990s and after production ended in 1998, the property was abandoned. In the 2010s, the house drew public attention after being discovered by numerous urban explorers including YouTuber 'Lost with Lou', who was one of the first of many to visit the house. ''The Raggy Dolls'' is a 1986–1994 British cartoon series which originally aired on ITV. The series is set in Mr Grimes' Toy Factory, where imperfect dolls are thrown into a reject bin. While unobserved by human eyes, the dolls come to life and climb out of the reject bin to have adventures. The series was designed to encourage children to think positively about physical disabilities. 112 episodes were produced.
