Canada At The 2017 World Aquatics Championships
Canada competed at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary from 14 July to 30 July. Canada was scheduled to compete in all six disciplines and its team consisted of 84 athletes (31 men and 53 women). However, only 83 competed across five disciplines because high diver Lysanne Richard withdrew from competition. Meaghan Benfeito
Meaghan Benfeito (born March 2, 1989) is a Canadian diver. She used to compete in the 10m synchronized event with Roseline Filion before the latter retired in January 2017. Benfeito and Filion won bronze medals in the 10 m platform synchro event at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics, and in the latter event Benfeito also won a bronze medal in the 10 m platform individual event. Early life Benfeito was born on March 2, 1989, in Montreal, Quebec to Portuguese parents, Arthur Benfeito and Margarida Correia. She has younger twin sisters, Alicia and Chelsea. Career She began diving for Canada in 2005 and credits Emilie Heymans and Alexandre Despatie for inspiring her to take up the sport. Jennifer Abel (born August 23, 1991) is a Canadian former diver. She is currently partnered with Mélissa Citrini-Beaulieu for synchronized diving. She won an Olympic bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the 3 m synchro diving event with Émilie Heymans and a silver medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the same event with Melissa Citrini-Beaulieu. Vincent Riendeau (born December 13, 1996) is a Canadian elite diver. He won a silver medal at the 2015 FINA World Championships in the 10 m mixed synchro event and a silver medal at the 2015 Pan American Games in the 10 m synchro event. François Imbeau-Dulac (born 9 December 1990) is a Canadian diver. He began diving at the age of 9, and began competing internationally in 2006. In 2011 Imbeau-Dulac broke the Canadian record (held at the time by Alexandre Despatie) in the 1m springboard event. He competed in the 3 m springboard event at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He placed 13th, just short of making the final. He competed in the 3 m springboard and the 1 m springboard events at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
