Cambridge English Teaching Framework
The Cambridge English Teaching Framework is a professional development framework, designed by Cambridge English Language Assessment, which is used by English language teachers to self-assess and plan their own development. The framework describes four stages of a teacher's development (Foundation, Developing, Proficient and Expert) across five categories of teacher knowledge and skills: # Learning and the Learner # Teaching, Learning and Assessment # Language Ability # Language Knowledge and Awareness # Professional Development and Values. Each category describes the key competencies for effective teaching at each stage of a teacher's development. International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL) is an organisation in the field of English language learning and teaching. It is based in Britain and was founded in 1967 as ATEFL (it became ‘International’ in 1970), by W. R. (Bill) Lee, who also served as the organisation's first Chairman until 1984. The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment, abbreviated in English as CEFR or CEF or CEFRL, is a guideline used to describe achievements of learners of foreign languages across Europe and, increasingly, in other countries.
