Calhoun Falls High School, the former name of Calhoun Falls Charter School, is located in Calhoun Falls, South Carolina. Calhoun Falls High School was one of the smallest high schools in the state, with fewer than 200 students attending. It was scheduled to close at the end of the 2008 school year, and students would be sent to other county schools: Abbeville High School and Dixie High School. However, this plan was challenged by students and parents within the community. Instead, Calhoun Falls High School became Calhoun Falls Charter School in which it does not operate under Abbeville County School District. One notable alumnus is baseball player Neil Chrisley. Calhoun Falls is a town in Abbeville County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 1,724 at the 2020 census, down from 2,004 at the 2010 census. The town derives its name from John E. Colhoun (or Calhoun), a United States Senator from South Carolina. Geography Calhoun Falls is located at (34.092870, -82.589746). The Calhoun Falls State Recreation Area is located nearby. Abbeville County is a county located in the U.S. state of South Carolina. As of the 2020 census, its population was 24,295. Its county seat is Abbeville. It is the first county (or county equivalent) in the United States alphabetically. Abbeville County is traditionally included in the Upstate region of South Carolina. Dixie High School is a public school for grades 8–12 in Due West, South Carolina, United States. It is part of the Abbeville County School District. As of 2015 it had an enrollment of 415 students. Neil Chrisley
Barbra O'Neil Chrisley (December 16, 1931 – May 18, 2013) was a Major League Baseball outfielder who played from 1957 to 1961 with the Washington Senators, Detroit Tigers and Milwaukee Braves. He was tall and weighed , batted left-handed and threw right-handed. He was a native of Calhoun Falls, South Carolina, where he graduated from high school. He attended Newberry College. Career Chrisley was originally signed by the Boston Red Sox as a free agent in 1950. On November 8, 1955, he was traded with minor leaguer Al Curtis, Dick Brodowski, Tex Clevenger and Karl Olson to the Senators for Mickey Vernon, Bob Porterfield, Johnny Schmitz and Tom Umphlett. Martavis Alexander Bryant (born December 20, 1991) is an American gridiron football wide receiver for the Vegas Vipers of the XFL. He played college football at Clemson, and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. High school career Bryant was born in Calhoun Falls, South Carolina.
