Cale Makar
Cale Douglas Makar (born October 30, 1998) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman and Captain (ice hockey)#Alternate captains, alternate captain for the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected with the fourth overall pick by the Avalanche in the 2017 NHL entry draft. After two seasons in the NCAA with the UMass Minutemen ice hockey, UMass Minutemen, Makar debuted in the NHL during the 2019 Stanley Cup playoffs. Playing his first full season in 2019–20 NHL season, 2019–20, he made an immediate impact and won the Calder Memorial Trophy as rookie of the year. The Stanley Cup () is the championship trophy awarded annually to the National Hockey League (NHL) playoff champion. It is the oldest existing trophy to be awarded to a professional sports franchise in North America, and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) considers it to be one of the "most important championships available to the sport". The Brooks Bandits are a Junior ice hockey team in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) based in Brooks, Alberta. The teams plays its home games at the Centennial Regional Arena. The Medicine Hat Tigers are a Canadian major junior ice hockey team in the Western Hockey League (WHL) based in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
